'5' A RESOLUTION REGULATING THE APPOINTMENT OF INDIVIDUALS TO THE VARIOUS STANDING COMMITTEES, BOARDS, AND COMMISSIONS OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ WHEREAS, there does not exist, nor has there previously been, a policy outlining the procedures for appointments to the Citys' committees, boards, and commissions; and WHEREAS, such a uniform policy would greatly assist the City Council, as well as other interested parties, in deter- mining subject appointments; and WHEREAS, such a policy would establish a fair and con- sistent method of appointing persons to the various committees, boards, and commissions of the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, that the following is the procedure for appointments to any of the Citys' standing committees, boards, and commissions: A. A name may be submitted to the committee concerned by any interested person residing in the City of Schertz. B. Once a name has been submitted to a committee, that committee shall be responsible for the screening, interviewing, etc., of the proposed member. C. Following a favorable vote on the proposed member in a regular session of the subject committee, the Chairman of the committee concerned shall submit, in writing, a recommendation to the City Council through the City Manager requesting appointment of said person to the committee. D. The City Council, in a regular meeting, shall accept 'or reject the committee I s recommendation, thereby making or rejecting an appointment to a committee. E. The decision of the City Council will be communi- cated in writing, by the City Manager, to both the i~dividua1 and the committee concerned. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the following is the procedure for members resigning or vacating their positions on any of the Citys' standing committees, boards, or commissions: A. An individual will tender his resignation, in writing, to the Chairman of the committee concerned. B. The Chairman of the committee concerned shall endorse the resignation and present it to the City Council at the next regularly scheduled meeting. At that time, Council will take the necessary action to terminate the member's service on that committee. ..r-, .' l.. ..- .>l C. Should the individual fail to tender his resignation personally, it shall be the responsibility of the Chairman of the committee concerned to inf orm the City Council, in writing, of the member's termination.
