A RESOLUTION REGULATING THE PERCENTAGE
OF THE VAL VERDE APARTMENTS TO BE OCCUPIED
BY INDIVIDUALS WHO QUALIFY FOR THE RENT
SUPPLEMENT PROGRAM IMPLEMENTED BY THE
HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1965.
WHEREAS, the City has received a request from the Mortgage
Bankers Corporation for an increase in the percentage of
units available to individuals who qualify for the rent
supplement program; and
WHEREAS, the City is desirous of promoting suitable condi-
tions for the maximum utilization of said apartments without
placing an inordinate service demand upon it's departments;
and
WHEREAS, there exists a need for additional housing for
those persons living on fixed incomes and being over the
age of 62; and
WHEREAS, the provisions of Section 101 of the Housing and
Urban Development Act of 1965 cannot be made available to
housing owners in certain localities unless the governing
body of the locality has bf resolution given approval for
such participation in the Federal Rent Supplement Program.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, that authority is hereby granted for
participation in the Federal Rent Supplement Program under
the guidelines set forth in the Housing and Urban Develop-
ment Act of 1965 in the amount of -.:b~ of available housing
units in the Val Verde Apartments; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that authority is hereby granted
for participation in the Federal Rent Supplement Program
under the guidelines set forth in the Housing and Urban
Development Act of 1965 in the amount of 30% of available

housing units in the Val Verde Apartments, restricted
however to only those individuals who so qualify under the
criteria set forth in Section 101, sub-paragraph C(2)(B)
of said Act.
The passage and approval of this Resolution renders null
and void Resolution No. 1025 passed on the 21st day of
September 1972.
