1978R12- VIDEO TERMINAL DEVICE . RESOLUTION NO. Ptff-/f-/:J- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING ALAMO AREA COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENT'TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLICATION AND EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR PURCHASING AND MAINTENANCE OF A VIDEO TERMINAL DEVICE AND PROVIDING FOR THE RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ADMINISTRATION. WHEREAS, the City of Schertz wishes to participate in an Alamo Area Council of Government project desigend to improve law enforcement by upgrading the operating efficiency of regional law enforcement agencies with the acquisition of new, improved highspeed video (CRT) Telecommunications Terminals and to add the City of Schertz as a new subscriber on Texas' Law Enforcement Telecommunications Network (TLETN), and; WHEREAS, it is recognized that Criminal Justice Division funding is available to those units of government who agree to accept the lawfully promulgated rules and regulations for administration of grants so funded, and; WHEREAS, tfieCity of Schertz is desirous of obtaining Criminal Justice Division funding to defray 85% of the purchase price and the first year main- tenance cost of the new terminal equipment, and; WHEREAS, the City of Schertz recognizes that 15% of the purchase price and first year maintenance cost will amount to about ($1,520.00), and that subsequent years maintenance cost will not be funded by Alamo Area Council of Government nor the Criminal Justice Division, and that those mainteaance' costs must be borne entirely by the City of Schertz, and that the subsequent years maintenance cost is contractually quaranteed at ($105.00) per month, ($1,260.00) per year until January 1982, and; WHEREAS, an agency receiving equipment under the project will be required to provide a suitable site for the equipment to include a sturdy table or desk for the equipment to be placed upon and an electrical circuit providing for three (3) 115 VAC electrical outlets, within 5 feet of the physical location of the terminal, three-prong, grounded, type capable of providing up to 5 amperes of current to each of the three outlets, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, that The City of Schertz consents to and authorizes Alamo Area Council of Government to submit a grant application to the Criminal Justice Division and to execute a contract with International Communications Corporation to set up a billing and payment procedure that will allow for a smooth transition when the funded project expires after 12 months; and agrees to continue the operation of funded equipment, using locally budgeted funds, for law enforce- ment or Criminal Justice purposes for the u~eful life of the equipment.
