A RESOLUTION
, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS,
APPLYING FOR A TEXAS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
GRANT AND AGREEING TO THE UNDERSTANDINGS AND ASSURANCES
CONTAINED IN THE APPLICATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Schertz has identified a need related to
developing a professional set of maps of the city's Water System and Waste
Water Collection System. Situated as we are between San Antonio and Austin,
and with the intense growth in population, the problem which has resulted is
an overtaxed water system and an inadequate waste water collection system
which is most severely felt in the city's older neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, having a professionally prepared set of maps, which will
make it easier to determine existing utility lines, streets, existing houses,
land use patterns, location of fire hydrants, zoning,to increase tax base, will
assist in meeting such need; and
WHEREAS, the Texas Department of Community Affairs administers
the Texas Community Development Program to assist community development
activities in the State of Texas; NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
THAT the City of Schertz apply for a Texas Community Development
Program grant under the terms and conditions of the State of Texas and
shall enter into and agree to the understandings and assurances contained
in said application.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
THAT the City of Schertz supports the proposed activity described
above.
