A RESOLUTION
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS, AFFIRMING DESIRE' TO PARTICIPATE WITH
THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO AND OTHER ENTITIES
LOCATED IN THE ALAMO AREA COUNCIL OF GOVERN-
MENTS REGION TO PARTICIPATE IN APPL ICATION
FOR FUNDING TO CREATE A MULTI-AGENCY NARCOT~
ICSTRAFFICKING TASK FORCE,' AND TO OBLIGATE
CERTAIN FUNDS TO BE USED AS CONFIDENTIAL
OPERATING FUND.
WHEREAS, the Governor's Office, Criminal Justice Divi-
sion, State of Texas has requested applications for carrying out
the purposes of the Federal Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986, and
WHEREAS, the purpose of this program is to create a
MUlti-Agency Narcotics Trafficking Task Force within the partici-
pating entities located in the Alamo Area Council of Governments
Region, and
WHEREAS. the City of San Antonio has offered to serve as
the GRANTEE on said application for funding, and
WHEREAS, the Ci ty of Schertz recognizes the danger to
our local citizenry that unlawful drug activity poses; adheres
the criminal activity it produces and recognizes the need for a
cooperative Law Enforcement effort, and
WHEREAS, the CJD guidelines require a 25% cash match
from local government for all confidential operating funds re-
quested from CJD for the program. NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
THAT The Ci ty of Schertz desires to participate wi th
other Regional governmental entities in this enforcement program
and authorizes the City Manager to effect the standard "Coopera-
tive Working Agreement" as required by CJD directives, and
Hereby obligates from the General Fund and amount of $2,625.00 to
be used as confidential operating funds for this program, and
Hereby requests the City of San Antonio to include the City of
Schertz in said application for funding to the Governor's Office,
Criminal Justice Division.
