1. Call to OrderlRoll Call
Chairman Hartzog called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
2. Introduction of City Staff
Ms. Madison introduced Ms. Debbie Perrone as the new recording secretary for the Board.
3. Comments from Citizens
There was no one present to speak.
4. Approval of the Minutes: Consider and take action on approval of the December 16, 2002, the
March 24, 2003 and the April 21, 2003 minutes from the Board of Adjustment meetings.
Following review and discussion, Ms. Hill moved to approve the Minutes of the December 16, 2002
Board of Adjustment meeting with corrections, Mr. Duigon seconded the motion. Motion carried. Vote
unanimous.
Following review, Mr. Duigon moved to approve the Minutes of the March 24, 2003 Board of
Adjustment meeting with corrections. Mr. Potempa seconded the motion. Motion carried. Vote
unanimous.
Following review, Mr. Duigon moved to approve the Minutes of the April 21, 2003 Board of Adjustment
meeting with corrections. Ms, Hill seconded the motion. Motion carried. Vote unanimous.
5. Discuss and take appropriate action of Article II and Article XVI of the Unified Development
Code as it pertains to the Board of Adjustment.

Mr. Truitt reviewed the proposed changes to Articles II and XVI of the Unified Development Code and
the Board made recommended changes to be forwarded to City Council.
6. Discuss and take appropriate action to forward a recommendation to reappoint the following
Board Members: Earl Hartzog and Ted Duigon
Following review, Mr. Potempa moved to reappoint Mr. Hartzog as Chairman and Mr. Duigon as Vice
Chairman and forward the recommendation to City Council for their consideration. Ms. Hill seconded the
motion. Motion carried, Vote unanimous.
7. Update the Board on Planning and Zoning Activity
Ms. Madison updated the Board with the activity in the Planning Department. She stated that 974 single-
family lots have been platted in the past year, with 256 multi-family (apartments) units have been zoned.
Industrial development has seen a growth of 510,219 square feet of space and retail development has
increased by 106,241 square feet.

8. Update the Board on Economic Development Commission Activity
Ms. Madison updated the Board on the Economic Development Commission activity, She stated that the
Commission had recommended for approval four tax abatement applications netting revenues for the City
in the amount of $208,929. With three additional applications still pending, Ms. Madison also stated that
the current unemployment rate in Schertz is 4,1 % compared to the State being 6.6%,

There being no further business, Chairman Hartzog adjourned the meeting at 8: 15 p.m.
