SCHERTZ PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD (LAB) MINUTES
The LAB met on January 3, 2005 with the following members present:

Minutes: Minutes for the December were presented. Julie made the motion to accept
the minutes. Mary seconded. The motion carried.
Treasurer's Report: The November report was presented. Margaret made the motion
to accept the report. Mary seconded. The motion carried.

Librarians' Report:
Melissa reported that the December circulation stats were down by 2% from last
year due to more days being closed during the holidays.
The bookstore sale did well during December and the total amount should show
up on the next treasurer's report.
Gail reported that the island in the parking lot should be started sqQ~ A $7,800
quote was received for the lights. If no other quotes are received, 'the Gail will
submit that one. After the lights are installed, pavers and trees will be added.
The council approved $25,000 for a gazebo to be built, but would like Gail to
come under budget. She will see if the gazebo can be built by volunteers. She is
looking at a variety of designs.
The study room will be cleaned out for the genealogy room on Jan. 6 and 7. The
juvenile section will be moved the following week.
The new LAB slate will be approved at the council meeting on Tuesday, Jan.4.
Committee Reports: Committee assignments will be on an as needed basis.
Old Business: None
New Business: Ruth brought up the need for something such as another piece of
equipment to take the place of the sandboxes in the playscape. Gail will have the parks
guys rake the areas routinely until a substitute can be found.
Mary made the motion to adjourn. Julie seconded. The motion carried.
The next LAB meeting will be on Monday, February 7 at 7:00 p.m.
