LAB 04-01-1991 LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES The LAB met in regular session on Monday~ April I, 1991. Members present: Gerald Thurman, Chairman Margaret Riley, Vice Chair Ruth Tienor, Secretary Julie Parr, Treasurer Connie Brison Richard Cervantes Mary McAllister Gail Douglas - Librarian Barbara Stanhope - City Council Rep. The minutes were presented. seconded. Motion carried. Connie moved they be accepted. Julie The treasurer's report was presented. Margaret moved to accept and Connie seconded. Motion carried. C.ommittee Reports - No report from Finance or Policy. Connie reported she placed ads in the Herald and on radio stations for the book sale. - Margaret indicated that she and Gail would be buying shrubs to replace those frozen i!his past winter. This was the only Building Committee item. Old Business - - Margaret posted Book Sale flyers in Marion, Cibolo, Universal City. & Schertz. She recommended (Julie seconded) that ve not have a book sale this week on Tues- day in deference to the book sale this weekend. Gail will inform the volunteers. Gail reported that ve have the nev PBK shelving attached to the valls. New Business - _ Connie moved we adjourn; Julie seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:29 P.M. Meeting Sequel - Joining our board from the county library board: Bob Blevins Harold Tschirhart Myrtle Blevins Ada Howar4 - Librarian John Donegan Bob Blevins - asked that we consider this joint meeting every year in April. alternating sites. Seguin usually meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month. This will be April 8th in 1992 if it's not TLA week. _ requested we go to the county commissioners j ointly with a consensus r&- quest for funds and have the librarians present a joint report. Last year's funding was $2.50 per capita. General Discussion - _ Seguin/Guadalupe County Library has a contract with the county to serve the county. It was generally agreed that our library 'WOuld be better protected with the same type of contract. As a board. we should advise the city manager of our prefefJ1rJor this t~esaction. . _ The Retro Conversion Project\}h~~ 'been ~C(bY both libraries) in favor of Precision I. It is cheaper and puts us both on the same cataloging system. As soon as the updated census figures are complete. Gail will check with Ada and make the same request per capita from the county as Seguin does.
