SCHERTZ PUBLIC LfflRARY ADVISORY BOARD (LAB) MINUTES
The following members were present for the February 5, 1996 LAB meeting:

The minutes for the January meeting were presented. Julie made a motion to accept the
minutes, and seconded by Mary. The motion carried.
There was no Treasurer's report because information was not available from
City Hall.
The Librarian's Report was presented:
-Stats for January, 1996 were 1,115 over those for January, 1995.
--Problems still exist with the automation system. Gail hopes to have them resolved by
March 1.
-1/2 of statistics shown are for videos. Gail feels this needs to be addressed at some
point.
-The three libraries in Guadalupe County did not receive the grant to be part of the
Internet.
-Gail feels that some policy changes will be necessary due to growth.
--$700 to $800 have been set aside for a new bar code reader and power supply.
Committee Reports:
There were no committee reports.
Old Business:
The LAB is on the agenda for the Feb. 20, 1996 Council Meeting at 7p.m.
The council will honor past board members and approve new officers and board
members.
The Policy and Bookstore committees will meet after the Feb. 5 meeting.
New Business:
The LAB discussed paying $700-$800 to allow Gail to attend the PLA Conference
in Portland, Oregon. Dallin made a motion that the board pay for Gail's travel expenses.
Barbara Ricks seconded the motion. The motion carried.
The next meeting of the LAB will be held Monday, March 4, 1996.
Julie made the motion to adjourn and was seconded by Pattie. The motion carried.
