LAB 08-08-1994 ~. SCHERTZ PUBLIC LffiRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES The LAB met in regular session on Monday, August 8, 1994. Members present: Richard Cervantes Julie Parr Gail Douglas Margaret Riley Ruth Tienor Mary McAllister The minutes were presented. Julie moved to accept, and Ruth seconded. Motion carried. The treasurer's report was presented. Ruth moved to accept, and Mary seconded. Motion carried. Librarian's Report: . Stats continue to go up. . TLA Annual Assembly was in Austin. Margaret moved that we reimburse Gail for expenses from the Library Cash Account. Julie seconded. Motion carried. . A copy of the Library Budget Request Summary was presented. Mr. Sweatt is asking for a 3% pay increase for employees. Automation funding is included capital outlay. . To comply with accessibility for the handicapped, a new unisex bathroom must be built. Ford Engineer recommended that this be built along the wall (where the entry door is now) of the meeting room. Gail reported that Dan recommended that the area continue along the entire wall and the remainder of the needed area be used as storage. Consensus was that this is a good idea. . Gina Stewart if the new Children's Clerk. She will be conducting the story hour. . Margaret and Gail attended the county budget hearing. A contract with the county has been sent to Mr. Sweatt to sign. Committee Reports: Finance and Public Relations had no reports. Building Committee -Report was included inLibrarian's report. ~ Policy -Meeting room policy may need to be revised after the bathroom is built Book Store -Progress on the possibility of opening the book store on Fridays was discussed. Gail will speak with Barbara Stanhope to see if she is still interested in this project. Suggestions were that it close by 5 at the latest and that the Friday opening be on a trial basis. Old Business: . Questions were raised about the bricking of the building. Is this in the future plans of the city? . Landscaping was discussed. No plans were made. New Business: . Concerns were expressed that there has not been a liaison from city council attending board meetings. Mayor Baldwin will be contacted to determine if there has been a change since he has taken office. Ruth moved we adjourn. Julie seconded. Motion carried.
