LAB 11-04-2002 e SCHERTZ PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD (LAB) MINUTES The LAB met on November 4lh, 2002 with the following members present Barbara Ricks Margaret Riley Julie Parr Ruth Tienor Simone Bailey Jennifer Wallace Gail Douglas Mary .f\1cAllister :Minutes: Minutes were presented. Ruth moved to approve the minutes, and Simone seconded. Minutes were approved. Treasurer's Report: No Treasurer's report was available. Librarian's Report: · In June it will be 25 years since the establishment of the Schertz LibralY (1978). A celebration or acknowledgement of the 25 years should be planned. · Approximately $342 was made during the week of the Bookstore sale. e Tony Vanderhayden cleaned the old computers and over $200 was made from the sale of old computers, monitors, and CPUs. · :tvlary Hale will be the new Bookstore manager. She will be in charge of the volunteers. The Bookstore will be open only when staffed by volunteers. e Julie is collecting the Bookstore money and donations once a week. · Gail attended the T1\..1L (Texas Municipal League) Conference. e Nominating Committee: Julie, Margaret, Ruth, and Mary are serving on this committee. Barbara, Simone, and Jennifer have been nominated and have all agreed to serve another 2 year term. Ruth moved that we accept the nominations. Mary seconded. ~fotion earned. A slate of officers will be presented at the Dec. meeting. New Business: none Old Business: A float for the Christmas Parade was again discuo;;sed. The theme is "Festival of Angels". After further discussion, the LAB agreed to reverse the previous decision and enter a float in the parade on December 6lh. Plans will be fmned up at next meeting. Lisa Connally will be asked to join the Library Board beginning a JanualY term. Report from Council Representative: Gail reported that Regina Agee will be the City Council representative to the LAB. Ruth moved to adjourn the meeting. Julie seconded. Jvlotion carried.
