LAB 07-02-1979 , ~ August 6, 1979 The Schertz Public Library Board met July 2, 1979 for its regular monthly meeting. Board members present were Marg Rakowsky', Marguerite Martinez, Douglas Mikus, Roy Richard Jr., Margaret Riley, Evelyn Rogers and Betty Child. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report as stated was approved as read: General Account Previous balance on June 30, 1979 $1,130.04 Income 120.20 Expenditures -616.44 Present balance as of June 30, 1979 $ 633.80 Investments Interest on CD in June $ 14:20 Present balance of CD 2,566.00 Total deposits as of June 30, 1979 $3,199.80 The librarians report indicated that circulation for June totaled 1,998 with 546 being Juvenile Fiction. There were 64 resident cards and 25 non-resident cards issued. For the month of June, 51 attended story hour and $15.15 was collected in fines. Committee Reports 1. Budget & Finance reported that the city council has been receptive to con- tinuing the support of the library and including funding for a librarian salary for this next year. 2. Hospitality reported on the success of the 1st Anniversary Celebration of the library. 3. ~y & Evaluation reported that volunteers be made aware that no legal or medical information be given over the phone. Ask the patrons to come to the li- brary where they can be helped with any research or reference questions. The board was asked for a motion concerning this matter. Douglas Mikus made said motion, Roy Richard Jr. seconded. Motion carried unanimously. 4. Publicity reported on the good coverage given the library during the month by the local newspapers. 5. Personnel reported that the city has hired Lynn Landis as the librarian with starting date of August 1st. J ," Old Business Marguerite reminded board members of the July 4th Jubilee and requested volunteers to help man the booths. New Business Marg Rakowsky reported that September 1st is the date for beginning our membership with Texas State Library Association, as a Provisional member for three years. This will then give us full membership in District X. There being no further business, Evelyn Rogers made a motion to adjourn. Marguerite Martinez seconded. Motion carried unanimously. ~-p s Mikus
