LAB 11-05-1979 . ....<f '. December 3, 1979 The Schertz Public Library Board met November 5, 1979 for its regular monthly meeting. Board members absent were Kermit Harborth and Evelyn Rogers. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer's report as stated was read and approved: General Account Previous balance on Oct. 31 Income Expenditures $ 834.79 150.14 895.70 $ 89.23 Investments Certificate of Deposit $2,900.00 Memorial Fund Balance Balance on June 30, 1979 Interest thru Sept. 30, 1979 100.49 1.34 $ 101. 83 Total deposits as of Oct. 31, 1979 $3,091.06 The librarian's report indicated that circulation for the month totaled 1,537 with $37.13 in fines collected. There were 58 resident cards, 21 non-resident cards and 4 users cards issued. There were 38 children attending story hour for the month. Lynn reported that she has been conducting several programs for civic organizations in the area along with attending two district meetings. Committee Reports 1. The Rook Committee reported 10,035 books and 139 records cataloged. The library is alotted $570.00 from the State and orders for young adult and medical books have been placed. 2. Budget & Finance Committee reported that several proposals have been sent to foundations. 3. Building & Property Committee stated that there is a need for at least 6 more book shelves. A motion made by Roy Richard, Jr. and seconded by Edith Cloud that we purchase or have these built. Motion carried unanimously. 4. Publicity & Public Relations Committee reported that the Jnstitute of Texas Cultures will present a Pioneer Trunk Showing on November 13th at 4 P.M. in the library. Old Business ~ Ruth Tienor reported on the District X meeting held in Kerrville in which Sh~ a t tended. " Lynn .~(~ There was a discussion about the use of funds from the memorial account. Roy Richard, Jr. made a motion that the memorial fund be used to purchase books as soon as possible and a book plate be attached to items purchased. Margaret Riley seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. Lynn Landis reported that Ruth Tienor has been appointed Trustee Liaison to ~~ District X. Donna Grainger made a motion that a Building fund be established at Schertz Bank & Trust to include all monies designated for building construction or remodeling and the proceeds from the users fees shall go to this account. Edith Cloud seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Douglas Mikus made a motion that the Chairman appoint a committee in August to audit the financial accounts of the library. Betty Child seconded. Motion carried unanimously. Marguerite Martilinez wants the library to look into getting another paperback book rack. There being no further business Harriett Lipps made a motion to adjourn, Donna Grainger seconded. Motion carried unanimously.
