LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
The Library AdvisorY.Board met in regular session on Monday, February 2, 1987,
at 7:30 p.m.

TREASUHER'S REPORT
Julie phoned in the following information: The cash balance is $3320.81, and
the CD was purchased for $16,411 in January.

The Collection stands at: Adult, 9068; Young Adult, 1337; and Juvenile,
3565.
The Library has been a very busy place. Tuesday and Thursday nights are
especially hectic. There is a desperate need for more volunteers on those
nights in order to accommodate patrons.
The picture book shelves were installed by Gene Weaver. The others were
taken back by Bob Shepherd.
Gail is learning a lot from her class on collection development. After the
dance and book sale, she would like to do another inventory, especially
Juvenile, and apply her new knowledge.
The Library has experienced a good deal of growth. There have been many
favorable comments particularly about the "E" section's growth.
PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE
Connie reported on publicity for the dance/auction. Radio and TV stations
have been contacted. The Herald-News and the Recorder-Times are printing
weekly announcements. H.P. Printing donated 50 posters again, and they are
being distributed. Gail arranged for the ad to be printed on the water
bill, and it was. Thank-you notes for auction donations were printed and
received with both the Library and Humane Society names displayed. Cost
was $110.00 for 500, as opposed to $40.00 for 100. Several of the auction
items will be included on the remaining newspaper announcements. Rep.
. Kuempel will be there .to auction the Texas flag.

BUILDING COMMITTEE
Earl had compiled quotes forbticking the building and for various expansion
plans. These were typed up, along with recommendations, and distributed to
board members. Discussion will follow at our next meeting.
POLICY COMMITTEE
Margaret reported that the censorship policy work is still continuing. Our
current policy seems similar and adequate to several others that have been
examined thus far. She is still gathering other area libraries' policies
on censorship.
OLD BUSINESS
Dance/auction plans were discussed. Mr. LinneaI', the auctioneer, will be
there. The band will be The Midnight Bandits at a cost of $250.00. We will
be using the Kountry Kitchen liquor license. Pepsi has yet to respond
after a letter and two phone calls. Food/drink tickets will be 25~ each;
prices,'willremain the .same as last year. Doris will again donate food.
Set-up will be Saturdaymbrning, with Tony and Fred arriving at 7:30 to
assemble lumber, etc. The rest will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Moving the books from Seguin Savings was discussed. Som~ plan to work on
Friday, and others will work on Saturday as necessary. 'Books will be taken
to Fred's.mini-storage building.
NEW AND MISC. BUSINESS
Fred informed the board of the Chamber of Commerce plans for an auction and
dance to be held in March at the Bluebonnet. Better-known entertainers are
also planned. It will be an annual event. We may need to make adjustments
with our own event as a result. Perhaps we will coordinate with the Chamber.
Tony moved that meeting adjourn. Connie seconded.
