LAB 02-03-1986 .~ """"'.. - .... ~ LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES The Library Advisory Board met in regular session on Monday, February 3, 1986 at 7:30 p.m. >i Members present: Fred Ross, Chairman R~th Tienor, V1ce-Chairman Julie Parr, Treasurer Mary McAllister, Secretary Connie Brison Margaret Riley Tony Paulson Earl Hartzog Gene Weaver Ex-Officio - Gail Douglas, Librarian Adolph Aguilar, City Council Representative Earl moved to accept the minutes of the January meeting. Tony seconded. TREASURER'S REPORT Julie moved to accept the report as presented. Margaret seconded. LIBRARIAN'S REPORT Stats: Resident cards issued - 91 Non-resident cards 38 User's Fees ~ 2 Copier Fees - $120.95 Fines, Etc. 158.85 Circulation 3964 Reported by Gail: The Collection stands at: Adult, 8188; Young Adult, 1301; and Juvenile, 3122. Texas films will be shown on Saturdays during the month of February. An inventory update/correction will be done on February 10. The vol- un~eers will be helping with this. Margaret and Gail attended a Young Adult Services workshop. Universal City now has a librarian, Joann Husky. During National Library Week in April, Gail will offer tours of the library. The Reading Club will be scheduled for June and July. Gail would like to present a program for young adults in August. Also Gail would like to conduct an In-Service for teachers in August. Gail is on the Literacy. Council for Guadalupe County. Anyone wishing to volunteer or to receive services should contact the library for more information. Gail spoke of the tri-county consortium being formed by ~ndhow this consortium wis~eBeta apply for a grant. OLD BUSINESS Gene moved that now that Universal City has a librarian, Garl persue the recipro- cal borrowing and write up an agreement. Earl seconded. Discussion that follow- ~d pointed out that the agreement be presented to the board for approval. Motion carried. ' The auction-dance will be held Saturday, February 15th. The Gary Bruce Band has been hired. Set up for the dance will be at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 14th. Julie will get petty cash. Connie has notified various radio and TV stations. Prices for the food were set as follows: Beer - 75t, Soda - 75t, Pe~nuts - 25t, and NachoeB - 75t. Tickets will be sold for 25t each. NEW & MISC. BUSINESS Gail distributed copies of the annual report to the city. Gail was asked to draw up a "want list" for the library. Items such as pic- ture book shelves, a VCR, ceiling fans, and a work~area in the workroom might be included on this list. Gene moved that the board send a letter of interest to aid~ibh~eeking the grant for the tri-county consortium. Connie seconded. MOtion carried. A workshop coveting "5 year Planning" will be held on March 20th at 9 :00 a.m. in San Antonio. Earl moved that the meeting adjourn.
