LIBARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES
The Library Advisory Board met in regular session on Monday, January 7, 19t15
at 7:30 p.m.

Doris Courtney moved the minutes of the December 3rd meeting be approved.
Fred Ross seconded.
TREASURER'S REPORT (see attached report)
Fred Ross moved the report be accepted. Ruth Tienor seconded.
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT

Reported by Gail Douglas:
The Collection stands at: Adult volumes - 7,400; Young Adult · 1,203; and
Juvenile - 2,721.
Fifteen dollars and seventy-two cents was paid from petty casflifor a typewriter
service agreement. Gail will find out cost per year for the service agreement
and the cost of a service call. Mr. Aguilar will check with the city to see
if they will assume the responsibility for the service contract.
Several bookshelves need crossbars.
The light near the flag pole will be checked again.
The compressor needs to be checked.
Story Hour for December was not held. Story Hour will be changed to Saturday.
A movie will be shown on one Saturday with regular story hour programs pre-
sented on the other Saturdays of each month.
A color analysis demonstration will be presented in February.
Gail will be attending a Media Committee Meeting on January tlth.
FINANCE
Julie Parr reported that the library will receive $7,150 in County Revenue Sharing
and $7,650 from the County Budget during the 1ges year.
BUILDING
The Building Committee met on December 10. Fred Ross reported that the committee
recommends the Revenue Sharing Funds ($4d50) from 1984 be used to repay the loan
from the city. Ruth Tienor withdrew her motion made in December to brick the
building. Ruth will attend the City Council meeting on January tlth and pre-
sent these funds to the city.
POLICY
Margaret Riley handed out updated sections of the policy book. Several addition-
al sections will be revised in the near future. A Disp~ay Policy was presented.
Fred Ross moved to accept the form with the addition of a signature and date
blank on the agreement form. Ruth Tienor seconded the motion. Motion carried.
DANCE COMMITTEE
Ruth Tienor reported that the dance/auction will be held on Saturday, February 23
from tl p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Schertz Community Center. The Center will be open
the night before to decorate. Robbie's Rustlers will help with the decorations.
A beer license will be obtained from Mr. Degollado. Fred Ross voiced concern of
legal ramifications against the Library Board and Humane Society should a DWI in-
cident occur. Mr. Aguilar will consult with legal consul for the city regarding
this concern. Publicity for the dance will be requested to be pr~ntedron the
February water bills. Admi.sston to the dance will be $5 per couple or $3 per
person. It was suggested that items be auctioned during the dance intermissions.
A meeting with the Humane Society will be held January 21 at 7:30 to firm up
plans for the dance.
FRIENDS
Bhth Tienor reported that officers were elected during the January meeting. They
are as follows:

NEW BUSINESS
Legislative Day will be held on February 13 in Austin. This is sponsored by the
Texas Library Association.
Gail Douglas has discussed reciprocal borrowing with the Seguin and New Braunlels
libraries. A brief discussion was held and Gail will check on this further with
the city.
Sharon Ricketts is resigning from the board.

-Gail will check with the city concerning a policeman for the event.
-Margaret will contact an auctioneer.
-Liz will distribute posters this week.
-Tickets were distributed.
-Many donations have been received for the auction.
-Gail asked that a list of all donations be given to her and thank-you notes
will be sent.
