LIBRARY ADVISORY J?OARD MINUTES
The Library Advisory Board met in regular session on Monday, Feb. 5,
1984, a.t 7:30 pm.
Members present were:
Tony paulson, Chairman
Ruth Tienor, Vice-Chairman

The Chairman asked for a motion to change the order of agenda. Julie
made the motion and Harriett seconded 0 The Humane Society reported
that the Las Vegas N i te was cancelled because of complicati ons 0 It
was decided to have a country-western dance and a.uction.
Julie made a motion to approve the minutes as corrected. Margaret
seconded.
TREASURER'S REPORT (see attached)
The city has invested $16,653.45 in the li brary 0
LIBRARIAN'S REPORT
Gail reported:
6,987 a.dult; 1,168 young adult; 2,528 juvenileo January statistics
are: 81 resident; 34 non-resident; 4 user's fees; 20 story hour;
$149.41 fines; 2,419 circulation.
Gail ha.s 4 volunteers from the National Honor Society to work in the
library. Use of the copying machine collected $20 The fire station
would like to use our copier and will buy the paper 0 (paper should
come from the city.)

Tony suggested that the Finance Committee meet to work on the budget
and the Policy Committee to re-do the by-laws.
Ruth made a motion to cha.nge our meeting time from 7:00 pm to 7: 30 pm.
Julie seconded. All in favor.
The Building C ommi ttee should work with Gail to order furniture.
BOOK SALE - Ruth

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY - Ruth, Margaret, Fred and Sharon Rickets.
This committee should find a Director and write a constitution to
suit\~he library's needs.
Tony recommended Sha.ron Rickets and Fred Dominguez to serve on the
library board 'for 2 years. The Nominating Committee (Margaret) made
a motion to accept the two nominations. All were in favor 0
NEW BUSINESS
Gail is phasing out records - she would like to buy cassettes.
OLD BUSlNE SS
Margaret and Gail attended a workshop for D-IO on January 19 on the
major resource budget for 1985-86. Possible other workshops for
the year a.re: Managing Personnel; Role of Rural Libraries; Library
Resources; Audio-Visual Programs; and Services to the Elderly.
Gail's prepa.red proposa,l was excellent and parts of it will be
used as next year's model proposalo
We will send $50 (from the General Account) to Seguin Guadalupe County
Public Library in memory of their librarian, Becky Vogelo

Book Sale. ~ I hfcrde a motion that the proceeds will go for books.
Doris seconded. We may try selling books by the inch on Sunday of
the Book Sale.
