LAB 09-10-1984 i ,,- LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES The Library Advisory Board met in regular session on Monday, September 10, 1984 at 7:30 pm. Members present were: Tony Paulson - Chairman Ruth Tienor - Vice-Chairman .Doris Courtney - Secretary Julie Parr - Treasurer Fred Ross Margaret Riley Sharon Rickets Ex-Officio - Gail Douglas Adolph Aguilar Fred Ross moved the minutes of August 6 be approved. Seconded. TREASURER'S REPORT (see attached) "Fred.Ros.s moved the report be approved. Sharon Rickets seconded. ,LIBRARIAN'S REPORT Julie Parr reported: Resident - 62 Non-Resident - 15 Userts Fee - 1 Fines - $149.24 Copier - $33.50 Circulation - 2762 -Gail reported: 7,187 adult; 1,la6 young adult; 2,635 juvenile Gail is thinking of changing story hour to Thursday mornings at 10:30 and then after school. Gail would like to go to Mr. Gilmore to recommend opening every day at 10:00 am and to check on the clerk and hours. Consensus was in f~vor. Check with HP Printing about new letterhead. Unicorn picture to be hung in young adult. The new corner top for circulation desk was ordered. Gail will check with Bob Sheppherd regarding damaged chairs and posts. BUILDING Fred Ross reported air conditioner in the meeting room was repaired. Margaret Riley reported on part-time janitor (Mr. Gonzalez). 11 ,- POLICY By-laws were retyped by Margaret (new as of Feb 1, 1984). Policy needs to meet to re-do policy. OLD BUSINESS Friends of the Library had a reception for present/past board members and city council and a luncheon for the volunteers. Doris ordered 3 magazines (Tx Monthly; SA Monthly & Tx Highways). Fred will take care of the Wall street Journal and Tx Parks and Wildlife. Mary McAlister was recommended by the Executive Committee to be appointed to fill Fred Dominguez's position on the board. Fred inquired on who's responsible or what's going on to buy books for the library. There was a discussion on the subject and it was decided to ask Friends for help in that direction. Losing storage at Seguin Savings. Depend on Fred for book storage. A committee was appointed to audit financial books of library (Margaret and Fred). Fred, Sharon Rickets and Ruth Tienor were appointed to work with the Animal Shelter on a dance and auction. Fred Ross recommended that we plan for next year's budget. Margaret moved we adjourn.
