LAB 03-07-1983 ~ LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MINUTES The Library Advisory Board met in regular session on Monday, March 7, 1983, at 7:10 pm. Members present were: Evelyn Rogers, Chairman Patty Lovelady, Vice-Chairman Doris Courtney, Secretary Julie Parr, Treasurer Tony Paulson Ruth Tienor 1JtPt;e.# LI'P? 5 Dona Grainger Margaret Riley Fred Ross Ex-Officio - Gail Douglas Adolph Aguilar Evelyn Rogers brought the meeting to order. The minutes of February 7, 1983, were read and corrected. Margaret moved we accept the minutes; Julie seconded; motion carried. TREASURER'S REPORT (see attached) Fred moved we accept the Treasurer's Report. Motion carried. LIBRARIAN,'S REPORT The statistics for February: Circulation - 2,463 Resident Cards - 53 Non-Resident - 18 User's Fee - 3 Story Hour - 48+ Fines - $69.50 Gail reported: Circulation: Adult - 6,515; young adult - 1,154; juvenile - 2,250 The stamp was made to put on the water bills; Patty and Gail stamped. Gail mentioned the annual report and that it was done. Gail had a consultation with Barbara Gubbin and everything is going okay. The TV (cable) taping of Gail with Chuck Sharpe will be shown on March 14 and 16. The Express-News article was in Thursday morning's (MarCh 4) paper. Fred Ross provided the Board with his drawing of the new library. Exact location (the way it sits on property) has to be verified by a survey. Costs for the library are running $120,000.00 compared to $135,000.00. Ruth made a motion that Fred's plan be approved; Julie seconded; motion carried. Tony and Margaret will talk with some people they know in "electronics" about a computer to be raffled off at the 4th of July. Gail mentioned that the City of Schertz belongs to a "grantmanship." Aggie suggested that we should be sure to line up something before a contract is signed. (Something to work on for the library.) Patty reported the posters advertising the Book Sale are not in from District 10. Patty sent around the "sign-up work sheet." Patty suggested the prices of the books for the book sale be raised. Dona made a motion that prices stay the same; Ruth seconded; motion carried. Julie reported she received half of the revenue sharing money ($3,000) which will be put in the building fund. Evelyn assigned committees as follows: BUILDING - Fred Ross, Margaret Riley & Tony Paulson BUDGET & FINANCE - Ruth Tienor, Patty Lovelady & Russ Hendricks POLICY - Julie Parr & Harriet Lipps HOSPITALITY - Doris Courtney FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY - Dona Grain~er (Vicki Contreras very much interested) NEW BUSINESS Gail's work hours were discussed plus benefits from the city. Ruth made a motion that a letter be sent to City Council indicating the Board's approval to give Gail a paid 40-hour work week with insurance benefits; Dona and Patty seconded; motion carried. Evelyn said we need 2 people for Council workshops on March 9 (Julie will go) and the 30th (?).
