PLANNING AND ZONING MINUTES
The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Schertz convened
in Regul ar Session on Tuesday, July 14 , 1981, at 7 :00 P~1, in the
Municipal Conference Room, 1400 Live Oak Road. The following members
were present:

Tom Brooks, Assistant to City Manager

#1 CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Linebarger called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.
#2 READING OF MINUTES: Special Session of Planning .and Zoning Commision
July 7, 1981
Ray Stanhope made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Merwin
Wi 11 man seconded and the moti on was in favor of.
#3 CONSIDER REZONING PRESENT APPLICABLE PRE-DEVELOPMENT DISTRICTS
The discussion was centered along the 750 foot strip along either
side of IH 35 which is presently zoned pre-development. The Commission
recommended a Public Hearing be scheduled for a date during the month
of September, 1981, to allow sufficient time to notify the affected
property owners.
#4 STAFF BRIEFING
Tom Brooks reminded the Commission that a Public Hearing on the
Rezoning request of the Baker Brothers is scheduled for July 21,1981.
#5 GENERAL DISCUSSION
There was lengthy discussion about the use of Specific Use Permits and
whether or not the City needs stronger controls. Chairman Linebarger
stated the need for at least two new members for the Planning and Zoning
Commission and asked Mr. Brooks to seek new members.
