AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING A PLUM.l3ING AND APPEALS BOARD TO CARRY OUT
THE DUTIES AU1'HORIZED BY THE PLUMBING CODE OF SCHERTZ. TEXAS, AND
THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS AND APPEALS AS PROVIDED BY THE SOUTHERN
STANDARD BUILDING CODE, 1965 EDITION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS.
SECTION ONE: There is hereby created a Plumbing Appeals and Advisory
Board and a Board of Adjustment and Appeals as provided in Section
111.1 of the Southern Standard Building Code, 1965 Edition. One
Board consisting of three (3) members shall serve as the board of
Plumbing Appeals and Advisory Board provided for in Chapter 8 of the
Plumbing Code of the City of Schertz, Texas, and as the Board of
Adjustment and Appeals as provided for in Section 111.1, et seq, of
the Southern Standard Building Code, 1965 Edition.
SECTION TWO: Such board shall consist of one building contIactor,
the City Engineer and one resident citizen of the City of Schertz.
SECTION THREE: Members of the Board and their successors shall be
appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council and shall
hold office for a term of four (4) years or until their successors
are appointed and have qualified; except, the members of the Board
first appointed shall hold office, one for two years, one for three
years and one for four years, as determined by the Mayor in making
said appointments.
SECTION FOUR: The City Engineer shall be eligible to serve only
so long as he holds office.
SECTION FIVE: All members shall serve without compensation.

SECTION SIX: Two (2) members of the board shall constitute a
quo
quorum. A vote of the majority of the members shall govern the
action of this body. No board member shall act in the case in
which he has a personal interest.
SECTION SEVEN: Section 8.1; Section i.l.l; Section 8.1.2; Section
8.1.3; Section 8.1.4; and Section 8.1.5 of the Plumbing Code of the
City of Schertz, Texas, and Section 111.1; Section 111.2; and Section
111.3 of the Southern Standard Building Code, 1965 Edition, are
herewith repealed and in lieu of such sections of such Code and
Ordinance this ordinance
shall govern.
