Schertz Sweetheart Court ïîóîóðè Ý·¬§ ݱ«²½·´ ß¹»²¼¿Ð¿¹»ó î ó Agenda No. 1 CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM City Council Meeting: December 2, 2008 Department: Council Subject:Oath of Office BACKGROUND The Mayor Pro-Tem shall act as Mayor during the absence or disability of the Mayor and in this capacity shall have the rights conferred upon the Mayor. The term of Mayor Pro-Tem is a six- month term on a rotational basis in Place order, Places One through Five. The term of the current Mayor Pro-Tem (Wilenchik-Place 4) is to expire December 2008. Council Member Carpenter-Place 5 is the next in line to serve as Mayor Pro- Tem. FISCAL IMPACT None RECOMMENDATION Appoint Michael Carpenter as Mayor Pro-Tem for a term of six-months, ending June 2009. ATTACHMENT Oath of Office Certificate POLICE DEPARTMENT INTRODUCTIONS/PROMOTIONS FOR 12/2/2008 Lt. John Correu has been with the city of Schertz Police Department since 1997. Lt. Correu holds a master peace officer license. He possesses an Associates degree in criminal justice, a master?s degree in Public administration, a second masters of Science degree in justice policy Lt. Correu is married to Chrissi with three kids (Tyler, Baylee and Paisley) and one on the way. Lt. Michael Carey began working for the City of Schertz as a Patrolman on December 23, 1991. He holds a TCLEOSE masters Peace Officer Certification. During his service with the City he has participated in the Honor Guard, Field Training Officer, Police Instructor and Firearms Instructor. Sergeant Brian Onofre is 29 years old and is married to Roxanne. Brian has a 10 year old daughter (Jamie) and an 8 year old son (Nathaniel). Brian and his family are expecting a new edition (son) in January 2009. Brian has been a police officer for 8 years, 4 have been with the City of Schertz. Sgt. John Eisen was born August 12, 1967. On Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. He joined the US Army in 1986 and was honorably discharged in 1989. John was hired as a Reserve officer in 1996 and 4 months later became a permanent Police officer. John holds an Advanced Peace Officers license. Corporal Steven Rolison attended Louisiana Tech University on a track scholarship. He has been employed with the City of Schertz for 4 years. He was a Detective in CID for over a year and is currently on the SWAT team. Corporal Ernest Spradling was born and raised in San Antonio is married to Katherine and has 2 children. Tyler and Jake. Ernest has been employed with the City since May 2006. He was promoted to Detective Corporal in November 2008. Corporal Rebecca Rodriguez was born and raised in San Antonio and graduated from Lee High School in 1987. Rebecca has been with the City since October 2000 and was recently promoted to Corporal. Jonathan Patrick is married to Melissa and they have three children, Elizabeth, Jonathan and Avery Elise. He has been with the City since November 2005 and was recently promoted to Detective in CID. Kelly Kallies was born and raised in New Braunfels. Kelly is married and has 2 children. She has been with the City for 15 months. She was just promoted to Detective in CID. Shawn Ceeko was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corps and began his law enforcement career in 2000. He has been with the City since 2005. On October 2008 he was transferred to the Special Projects Officer position. Agenda No. 1 CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM City Council Meeting: December 2, 2008 Department: Public Works / Engineering Subject:Ordinance No. 08-D-52 - Recommendation tomake south side of Mayfair Avenue No (First Reading) Parking Zone BACKGROUND At the monthly TSAC meeting on June 5, 2008 Northcliffe HOA president, Ms. Bell, briefed the Commission regarding the request to have the south side of Mayfair Avenue a No Parking Zone for safety reasons. A motion was made by the Commission to have the City of Schertz Engineer review a traffic study on Mayfair Avenue and send his findings to Council. FISCAL IMPACT The Fiscal Impact will be $500.00. Proposed FY 2008-2009 budget, Account number: 101-359- 551600 ? Street Maintenance. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends Council approval to make the south side of Mayfair Avenue a No Parking Zone from the intersection of Cherry Tree Drive and Mayfair Drive to the intersection of Wedgewood Drive and Mayfair Drive (see attached exhibit), thus amending ordinance Section 86-149 Parking Prohibited. ATTACHMENT Ordinance No. 08-D-52 Mayfair No Parking Zone Exhibit Traffic Study ORDINANCE NO. 08-D-52 AN ORDINANCE BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 86-149, PARKING PROHIBITED; AND PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS SECTION I THAT, Section 86-149 of the Code of Ordinances, City Of Schertz, Texas be amended to add the following: ?Section 86-149, Parking prohibited STREET EXTENT Mayfair South side of Mayfair Avenue, from the intersection of Cherry Tree Drive and Mayfair Drive to the intersection of Wedgewood Drive and Mayfair Drive SECTION II THAT, all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed. This Ordinance shall be effective from and after its final passage and any publication required by the City Charter. ND APPROVED on first reading the 2 day of December, 2008.
