RECOGNIZING mE NEED FOR PROVIDING A mOROUGHFARE ROUTE 'lllROUGH mE
CITY OF SCHERTZ, DESIGNATING PM 78 AS mE MAIN TRAFFIC 'lllOROUGHFARE
ROUTE, AND PROVIDING FOR EXPANSION OF FM 78 TO A FOUR-LANE THOROUGH-
FARE 0
WHEREAS, the City of Schertz is confronted with traffic congestion on
its east-west axis, and;
WHEREAS, consideration must be given to widening of PM 78 to accommodate
the increased flow or to provide for an alternate bypass route, and;
WHEREAS, FM 78 is an established road system that services through
traffic and both commercial and residential properties, and;
WHEREAS, the City Council, City of Schertz, has deliberated at length
on the feasibility of providing four-lane traffic on FM 78 as the first
and best solution to a traffic congestion problem;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CrTY COUNCIL, CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
That a letter be prepared to the Texas Highway Department requesting
the widening of FM 78 be included as a budgetary item in the Texas High-
way Department Fiscal Year Budget for 1973.
