1977R17-911 Emergency Telephone Service " ~~= ~ RESOLUTION NO. 77- ,/?- /7 A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO PARTICIPATE IN ~ "911" EMERGENCY TELEPHONE SERVICE WHEREAS, the Alamo Area Council of Governments has undertaken the establishment of a "911" Uniform Emergency Telephone Number within the San Antonio Metropolitan Exchange; and WHEREAS, the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, as subscriber, has declared that the "911" system cannot be initiated unless each and all customers cities within the Exchange endorses the system; and WHEREAS, participation in the "911" system by the City of Schertz would not be intended to replace any currently utilized emergency dispatching service in the City of Schertz; but rather would be intended to supplement the current dispatching service; and WHEREAS, an intent of participation by the City of Schertz would be contingent upon an opportunity for the City of Schertz to be repre- sented on the "911 System" review or control committee; and WHEREAS, it is understood that this intent to participate in the "911" system in no way monetarily obligates the City of Schertz, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, that I The City of Schertz intends to participate in the "911" Uniform Emergency Telephone Number System as approved by vote taken in Regular Session of the City Council on Tuesday, August 16, 1977.
