A RESOLUTION
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS,
RECOGNIZING THE SESQUICENTENNIAL COORDINATING
COMMITTEE AND ADOPTING THE SESQUICENTENNIAL MASTER
PLAN.
WHEREAS, the City of Schertz, Texas, desires to plan for
and participate in the celebration of the 150th birthdate of our great
state; and
WHEREAS, certain actions are required to properly plan for
such an occasion, and to ensure success of such a glorious event; NOW
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
THAT the Sesquicentennial Coordinating Committee as
appointed by the Mayor is hereby formally recognized, and our City's
Sesquicentennial Master Plan is adopted as the official plan for the
City.s participation.

We submit herewith the City of Schertz Application for Sanctioning by
the Texas 1986 Sesquicentennial Commission.
Attachment I lists the names, addresses and biographical sketch of
each member of the Coordinating Committee; Attachment II describes the
City Master Plan for celebration of the 1986 Sesquicentennial;
Attachment III describes all proposed uses of the Texas Sesquicen-
tennial Logo; and Attachment IV is the executed copy of the resolution
passed by the City Council adopting the Master Plan.
We look forward to receiving sanction as a IITexas Independence Communityll.

history for all who wish to attend. Use facilities and
teaching personnel of Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Inde-
pendent School District.
14. Establish.an exhibit of pioneer farming and ranching equipment
for display to the community.
15. Bury a IItime capsulell of objects of the 1980's, not to be opened
until March 2, 2036 - Independence Day of the Texas Bicentennial

16. Conduct City-wide church services on March 2, 1986, in remembrance
of Texas Independence.
17. Promote 1986 as a 'Special year for family reunions. Recognize
and publicize in local papers.

Expand to include participation in Buffalo chip tossing.
19. Research, record and publish a comprehensive cemetery survey of
all cemeteries in Schertz.

incorporate nature trail in conjunction with Universal City.

facilities as pavilions, restrooms, trees, games area, etc.
24. Revival of IIKoenig SchiessenlJ. or King Shoot tournament in 1986.
