1990R04- Contract with Randolph Metrocom Chamber RESOLUTION NO. 9'tJ--~- if A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE RANDOLPH METROCOM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOR SERVICES. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS: THAT the City of Schertz hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute a contract with the Randolph Metrocom Chamber of Commerce for services during 1990 as described in Exhibit A attached and made a part hereof. THAT the City of Schertz agrees to provide funds in the amount of $1,332.00 for these services. I THAT a copy of the contract is attached hereto and made a part hereof. Plymouth Herald Newspaper Pronto Printing - Clerical support was contracted through a Southwestern Bell professional service. Telephone Co. - The Receptionist area has been revamped to reflect a resource center for information on the cities, demographics, and business assistance. - Increased membership by 67% - A strong legislative effort was initiated to provide support on Metrocom issues - A Metrocom representative was appointed to the A/SA Corridor Council Board - Business promotional programs were initiated Cibolo - Converse - Garden Ridge - Kirby Live Oak - Marion - Schertz - Selma - Universal City Randolph Air Force Base - Recognition through the Fortune magazine supplement - The area map was updated and is ready for distribution - The Economic Profile was updated and will be ready for distribution shortly Groundwork has been laid which will project the Chamber into the new decade with an enhanced program of work. Please note specific goals for 1990 - The cities Liaison Program will be returned to the Program of Work - The Economic Development efforts are being enhanced through additional programming - A Five-Year strategic Plan has been approved by the Board - The Board consists of a broader representation - A higher Profile is being developed for better identity - A stronger membership base will continue through membership drives We continually seek ways to provide a higher quality of life, and business climate. Rhoda Philby '1 President Enclosures -- Exhibit A Resolution Contract Five-Year strategic Plan 1990 Program of Work 1990 Board of Directors Contract for Services Know all men by these presents -- that the City of Schertz, Texas, known as "City" in this agreement, and the Randolph Metrocom Chamber of Commerce, known as "Chamber" in this agreement, hereby agree to the following: I. The Chamber agrees to provide the City the services described in the attached Exhibit A, which is fully incorporated herein as though fully set out at this point. II. In exchange for the services provided by the Chamber, the City agrees to provide funds as a promotional fee authorized by law in the amount of $1,332.00. III. The services provided by the Chamber and the terms of this agreement shall be one year beginning 1 January 1990 through 31 December 1990. This agreement can be rescinded by mutual agreement of the parties. IV. Both City and Chamber have authorized the signatures below by proper resolution to bind the parties to this agreement. The Chamber compiles and distributes said data for industrial development and creation of jobs. B General Informational Center -- The Chamber maintains current information and provides said information to hundreds of inquiries directly related to cities' activities, school locations, realtors, medical facilities, organizations and clubs, and other information. C Military Recognition -- Randolph Air Force Base is recognized as the largest employer in the Metrocom. Its economic impact is recognized as a stabilizing force for the cities. The Chamber coordinates its interrelationship with the area cities and provides appreciation through its quarterly and annual Military Appreciation Program. D Legislative -- The Chamber continually works with the state and National legislators to ensure citizens needs are addressed. E Community Relations -- The Chamber provides its services to enhance the Randolph Metrocom through its Program of Work consisting of its working committees: Economic Development, Membership, Mixers, Ways and Means, NCO Awards, Military Affairs, Past Chairman, Cities Liaison, Education and Diplomats.
