85-C-8 FIRE CHIEF/MARSHALL
ORDINANCE NO. ~S -(! -~
AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OR ORDINANCES, CITY
OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS BE AMENDED BY REVISING
CHAPTER 7 OF SAID CODE, PROVIDING FOR THE
OFFICE OF FIRE CHIEF AND FIRE MARSHAL AND
THEIR DUTIES~ REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:
I
That Section 7-15 (a) of the Code of Ordinances of the City
of Schertz, Texas be amended so that said section shall read as
follows:
nSection 7-15 (a) The Fire Chief shall appoint officers
for the operation of the department.n
II
That Section 7-16 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Schertz, Texas be amended so that said section shall read as
follows:
nSection 7-16 To whom Chief and other officers responsible.
The Fire Chief shall be directly responsible to the City Manager.
The assistant chiefs, captains, lieutenants and training officers
shall be responsible to the fire chief.n
III
That Section 7-17 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Schertz, Texas, be amended so that said section shall read as
follows:
"Section 7-17 Assignment of duties to other officers.
The Fire Chief shall have full authority to assign duties to the
assistant chiefs, captains, lieutenants, and training officers."
IV
That Section 7-22 shall be added to the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Schertz, Texas, and shall read as follows:
"Section 7-22 Appointment of fire inspectors.
The Fire Chief shall appoint fire inspectors for the operation
of the department and they shall be directly responsible to the
Fire Chief.n

That Section 7-32 of the Code of Ordinance of the City of
Schertz, Texas, shall be amended so that said section shall read
as follows:
nSection 7-32 Office of Fire Marshal
The Fire Marshal shall be appointed by the Fire Chief and shall
be directly responsible to the Fire Chief."

That Section 7-33 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Schertz, Texas, shall be amended so that said section shall read
as follows:
nSection 7-33 Office of assistant fire marshal.
The assistant fire marshal shall be appointed by the Fire Chief
and shall be directly responsible to the Fire Chief."
VI
All ordinances and parts of ordinances
ordinance are hereby repealed.
