06-18-2024 Council Workshop MinutesMINUTES CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP June 18, 2024 A City Council Workshop was held by the Schertz City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas, on June 18, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in the Hal Baldwin Municipal Complex Council Chambers, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Building #4, Schertz, Texas. The following members present to -wit: Present: Mayor Ralph Gutierrez; Mayor Pro -Tern Paul Macaluso; Councilmember Tiffany Gibson; Councilmember Robert Westbrook; Councilmember Allison Heyward; Councilmember Tim Brown Absent: Councilmember Mark Davis; Councilmember Michelle Watson Staff City Manager Steve Williams; Deputy City Manager Brian James; Assistant City present: Manager Sarah Gonzalez; City Secretary Sheila Edmondson; Deputy City Secretary Sheree Courney Call to Order Mayor Gutierrez called the meeting to order at 5:02 p.m. Hearing of Residents This time is set aside for any person who wishes to address the City Council. Each person should fill out the speaker's register prior to the meeting. Presentations should be limited to no more than 3 minutes. All remarks shall be addressed to the Council as a body, and not to any individual member thereof. Any person making personal, impertinent, or slanderous remarks while addressing the Council may be requested to leave the meeting. No residents signed up to speak. Discussion and Action Items 1. Minutes - Consideration and/or action regarding the approval of the Council Workshop minutes of May 7, 2024. (S.Edmondson/S.Coumey) Moved by Councilmember Allison Heyward, seconded by Councilmember Tim Brown Counclmember Westbrook was not on the dais during the vote. AYE: Mayor Pro-Tem Paul Macaluso, Councilmember Tiffany Gibson, Councilmember Allison Heyward, Councilmember Tim Brown Passed Workshop 2. Workshop on the second phase of the Skate Park. (P.Macaluso/S.Gonzales/L. Shrum) City Manager Steve Williams stated the funding had been secured through the Schertz Economic Development Corporation. Parks and Rec Director Lauren Shrum provided a summary of the concept for Community Circle Park, which includes the Skate Park. 3. Workshop on reviewing Ordinance 23-M-28-City Council Code of Conduct and Procedure. (Mayor/S . Edmondson) Councilmembers were provided a copy of Ordinance 23-M-28 with acknowledgment forms to be submitted to the City Secretary for their files.
