TSAC 08-04-2005TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADVISORY COMMISSION AGENDA August 4, 2005 The Transportation Safety Advisory Commission (TSAC) will convene on Thursday, August 4, 2005 6:30pm in the Municipal Complex Conference Room, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Schertz, Texas. The Agenda is as follows: 1. Call to Order 2. Review and Approval of Minutes: June 2, 2005 & July 7, 2005 3. Hearing of Residents 4. Discussion and possible action to fill a Commission Vacancy. Applicants must complete an application form. This form is available from the Public Works office during business hours. The nominee's name will be forwarded to City Council for their action. S. Discussion concerning the June 29, 2005 letter prepared by Schertz Public works (Dennis Little) and mailed to TxDot. The letter concerned City Council approving an Ordinance prohibiting u-turns on FM 3009 at Four Oaks Lane and the medians at Ripps-Kreustler Drive. Action calls for the prohibiting signs being placed below the traffic lights. 6. Discussion and possible action concerning the possibility of a student or parent being injured by a motorist at the Paschal Elementary School crossing. Crossing guard has noted several near misses. Solution to prohibit early morning right -turns onto Schertz Parkway from Savannah Drive. Drivers in their haste to get to work are forgetting to look both. directions. 7. Discussion and possible action concerning 18-wheelers parking on cement drainage area on the west bound side of FM 78 between FM 3009 and Schertz Parkway. Former restriction sign is missing and the heavy weight of these 18-wheelers will eventually crack and break the cement. No code exists on this specific issue. 8. Discussion concerning the up to date status of a letter from Corbett Middle School Principal to City Manager on possible relocation of the flashing school zone light from in front of the Post Office to a position closer to the school. 9. Discussion and possible action to clear up the Northcliffe resident's dissatisfaction over the No Parking zone signs. 10. Discussion and possible action for the posting of the yellow pedestrian crossing signs to be posted on each side of GreenValley Elementary School, Wynnbrook and Willow Top Drive. 11. Discussion concerning possible bike lane and no overnight parking of commercial vehicles only on one side of Country Club Blvd. (Northcliffe) is held in abeyance until Assistant City Manager returns from vacation. 12. Discussion only on newspaper clippings of Union Pacific train accident in Abilene Tx. This accident was in the middle of town. Does this accident create a message for us? 13. Discussion and possible action (re: TSAC working committee reports on their review of possible safety risks at intersection of Woodland Oaks and Bent Tree Dr. and Greenshire Drive at Greenvalley Road. 14. General discussion items by Commission Members for next months agenda or items for Public Works Director information. 15. Adjournment.
