04-28-1981 PLANNING AND ZONING MINUTES
The Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Schertz convened in
Regular Session, Tuesday, April 28, 1981, in the Municipal Conference
Room, 1400 Live Oak Road,. The following members were present:

#7 CALL TO ORDER
Vice-Chairman Willman called the meeting to order at 7:05 PM.
#2 READING Of THE MINUTES - April 74, 1981
After the correction that Mr. Sharp was present at the last meeting,
Mr. Stanhope made the motion the minutes be accepted.
Mr. Greenwald seconded and vote was unanimous in favor.
#3. ZONING ORDINANCE CHANGE - Nome Occupation
Mr. Willman suggested the ordinance change be sent to City Council
(as suggestion 1} to add Article 23, Section 4, with a recommended ,
adoption.
Mr. Sharp made the motion to use Mr. Willman's suggestion and Mr.
Martin seconded, vote was unanimous in favor.
#4 TEXAS SUPREME COUNT RULING - Requiring Dedication of Park Areas
The Planning and Zoning Commission was in agreement the requirements
should be removed (Mobile Home Ordinance No. 80-S-2, Section 7, Para-
graph H-1 and H-2; Subdivision Ordinance No. 81-5-13, Article 3, Sec-
tion 24.1 and 24.2).
Mr. Sharp made the motion and Mr. Martin seconded. Vote was unanimous,
that the deletion proposal go to City Council with the Planning and
Zoning Commission recommendation they be deleted.
#5 STAFF BRIEFING
Mr. Gilmore briefed that the Commission comments in regard to City needing
additional staff has paid off and Council has approved. the hiring of Tom
Brooks.
The City Council and City Manager are still looking for volunteers to work
on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
The Public Meeting on the Garden Homes at Greenfield Village will take
place May 5, 19$i. Mr. Gilmore briefed on some reaction already generating.
There was additional discussion by the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Mr. Gilmore approached the idea of Schertz Day to the Planning and Zoning
Commission_(i.e. Schertz on the Bove, Worst Schertz). Mr. Greenwald
suggested the time of the softbai7 tournament as ideas. Mr. Gilmore said
it needed someone~to push it. The Commission felt it was a good idea and
Mr. Gilmore should bring it up to City Caunci~.
Mr. Gilmore briefed on some of the history of Schertz.
#6 GRENERAL DISCUSSION
There was discussion on replacements on the Planning and Zoning Commission
and how people were placed on the Commission (Planning and Zoning Commission
recommendation - City Council approval).

Vice-Chairman Willman adjourned the meeting at 8:00 PM.
