CALL TO ORDER:
Ruth Tienor, Chairman, called the meeting to order.
HEARING OF RESIDENTS
Mr. Brockman asked if the entrance doors can be adjusted as they are noisy when they
close. He also expressed concern about the damage to the gazebo at the old library and the
broken slats at the playscape.

Carol Cyr moved to accept the minutes. Margaret Riley seconded. Motion passed.
Treasurer?s Report
2. ? Consideration and/or action approving the September 14,
2009 Treasurer?s Report
Most of the bills from the Gala have been received and paid. September Book
Store sales were $1,362.06. Mary McAllister moved to accept the report. Simone
Bailey seconded. Motion passed.
The Library Foundation paid $200 for security guard fees at the Gala. Simone
Bailey moved to repay the Library Foundation. Margaret Riley seconded. Motion
passed.

September 2009 Library usage statistics
Circulation: 30,794 Patrons: 24,226 Volunteer hrs: 465.75
Restitution hrs: 38 New Cards: 1,294 Renewals: 860
September 2009 Library programs and program statistics
Story time: 857 GVEC Family Program & Adult Computer Class: 34
-- Adult computer class will be offered again.
-- Preschool music/large motor skills program will be offered once a month.
-- St. Phillips College is considering a Big Read program discussion group
here.
-- Gaming program is held on Saturdays during family reading program
-- Large meeting room has been used 12 times.
September 2009 Library fundraising statistics
$558,066.66 has been raised.

Fundraising efforts are still underway.
Possible grant for 2 more children?s computers.

BookstoreCommittee Report
4. ? Committee will report on the following items:
General operation of the bookstore during the month of September
-- Two volunteer workers have been scheduled on most of the work shifts.
-- Community advertisement (brochures/flyers) should not be placed in the
book store. Such items are displayed in the hallway across from the book
store.
-- Gift items will be displayed when slat wall is installed.
-- Stuffed animals from old library can be sold.
-- A gift magazine subscription can be donated to the book store.
-- The local community continues to be very supportive of the book store
with donations and patronage.
DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION
Discussion on City?s Strategic Plan and Vision Statement
5.?Discussion on the
City?s adopted vision statement and strategic plan, and the role of boards and
commissions in upholding and/or accomplishing the goals of those documents.
LAB members received this info in the mail or read it on the city?s web site.

items:
Correspondence received by the Secretary
A thank you card was received from Nicki Stohr for the plant and support
received following the death of her mother.
A sympathy card was sent to Valerie Wilenchek.
A ?going away? card was given to Nicki Stohr.
Announcements by Library Board Members
-- Applications are being accepted for the Children?s Librarian position as
Nicki Stohr resigned in September to take the position of Wilson County
Librarian.
-- Over 400 applications have been received for the 6 part-time positions.
-- Margaret Riley explained AALS to the new members.
-- Vending machines will be installed in the future.
