CALL TO ORDER: Mary McAllister called the meeting to order.
Mary made an announcement that Simone Bailey was named Secondary Teacher of the
Year.
HEARING OF RESIDENTS: Mr. Brockman wanted to thank everyone who called 311
regarding the shrubbery.
REGULAR AGENDA
1. Minutes -Consideration andlor action regarding the approval of the minutes of June
7, 2010.
Pattie Lovelady moved to accept the minutes. Ruth Tienor seconded. Motion
passed. June 7, 2010 minutes approved.
2. Treasurer's Report -Consideration and/or action approving the May & June,
2010 Treasurer's Report
June bookstore sales were $1,811.14
Sales for the first seven months total $13,013.00 which is already over what was
done last year.
Ruth Tienor moved to accept the June 2010 treasurer's report. Sonia Samora
seconded. Motion passed. June 2010 Treasurer's report was approved.
3. Librarians' Report -Librarians will report on the following items:

Year to date circulations have increased 44% from last year. Number of
people who visit the library is up 32%.
• June & July 2010 Library programs and program statistics:
The library was closed for the Holiday and for Training. The Summer
Reading Program was huge success. A record number of people, over 1500
signed up.
• June & July 2010 Library fundraising statistics
Proceeds from the Schertz Jubilee beer booth could possibly be as high as
$3,800.
A piggy bank was turned in with $28.
Autumn Winds made a $150 donation.
A lady from Cibolo made a $10 donation.
Exact figures will be received from Johnny.
• Library float
Did not win a prize as it was and has been mistakenly put on the "Do Not
Judge List" for the last 3 years. There are pictures of the float on the
Library's Facebook page. Thank you to everyone who helped with the float.
• Fundraising campaign report None.
• Library Foundation report -None.
The tax extension deadline is August 15~'. Gail will follow up with Shirley
Bennett.
• Summer Reading report
Report by April Toman. The program was a Huge Success! It was lots of
work. Over 1500 people signed up, a record. 208 books were given away.
Donors donated more than $8,800 worth of various donations. Received lot
of praise from the community. April did an excellent job

4. Bookstore Committee Report -Committee will report on the following items:
• General operation of the bookstore during the months of June & July
Lost Monday couple due to illness. Someone else from another shift has
moved to Mondays. Donations have not stopped coming in.
People have stopped by to ask about volunteering.
Books received from the school district were sold before word was received
that they could not be sold. The reminder of the books will be given away.
The cash drawer has been short 1 to 2 dollars after the weekend shifts. May
consider locking it.
• Update on purchase of bookstore bookcase
A different bookshelf was ordered because shipping was going to be as
much as the bookcase. New one has already been installed.
• July book sale report
Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with the book sale. All
volunteers should be invited to the Library Anniversary parry.
DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION
5. Request for Funds for Accu-Cut Dies & Machine -request for machine &Y dies for
use with store time programs.
Melissa made a presentation for the need for anAccu-Cut Machine. Would be used
for story time projects. Can even be used for the teen program and some adult
programs.
Ruth Tienor made a motion to grant the request for funds to purchase the Accu-Cut
Machine and dyes up to $1,200.00. Motion seconded by Sandy Keiser. All in
favor. Motion passed.
6. Library Event -Discussion and update on library's "1St Year Celebration."
The Library 1St Anniversary Parry will be August 28, 2010. The Cibolo city staff
will be invited as all as all library volunteers. Dress will be Western casual and
Grumpys will cater.

7. AALS Lay Representative -Discussion and possible action on electing a lay
representative and alternate lay representative for the Alamo Area Library System.
Margaret is the lay representative and an alternate is needed. The lay representative
is invited to the Spring and Fall AALS meetings. The lay representative serves as a
person from the community. Sandy Keiser volunteered to be the alternate
representative.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
8. Items by the Library Board Members -Briefing and discussion on the following
items:
• Announcement on committee appointments
Would like to move Sandy Keiser to the Bookstore Committee due to the
number of donations coming in and her background with bookstore
committee.
Patty, Laura and Neota will remain on the Hospitality Committee.
• Correspondence received by the Secretary

• Announcements by Library Board Members
None.
• Call for Items to be included in next Agenda
Members were asked to call Melissa with items to be placed on the next
agenda.

Laura Wilson moved to adjourn and Carol Cyr seconded. Motion carried.
The next meeting will be the second Monday in September due to holiday.
