AN ORDINANCE
PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES. CITY
OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS BE AMENDED BY REVISING
CHAPTER 12 1/2, ATTACHMENT "B", OF SAID
CODE, PROVIDING FOR THE USE AND REGULATIONS
OF SWIMMING POOL FACILITY; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ,
TEXAS:

THAT Section 12 1/2-5 (b) Attachment B - Swimming Pool
facility usage, be superceded by the "Attachment B" attached
and made a part of this ordinance.
II
THAT all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
with this ordinance are hereby repealed,
III
THAT the public importance of this measure constitutes
and creates an urgent public necessity, in order for patrons
to purchase season passes prior to the opening of the
swimming pool in May, requiring that this ordinance be
passed and take effect as an emergency measure; and shall
take effect and be in force immediately upon and after its
passage.

USE AND REGULATIONS OF SWIMMING POOL FACILITY
1. Establishing 1992 fees for swimming pool rates:
A. $1.00 per swimmer per entry.
B. Season rates: (Based on 100 swim days)

C. After July 31, one half cost on all seasons rates.
2. Regulations:
A. Children under 8 years of age must be accompanied
by a parent/legal guardian or an adult (19 years of
age or older), unless they can successfully pass
the swimming test as listed in the Pool Operations
Manual, and must then be accompanied by a
responsible person 14 years of age or older.
B. Persons in street clothes will be allowed only in
authorized areas.
C. Admittance to the pool may be refused for the
following reasons:
(1) Where it is apparent the individual is
physically unable to care for himself.
(2) Drunkenness.
(3) Any kind of contagious disease.
(4) Any person, in the opinion of the pool manager
or shift chief, whose behavior would be
detrimental to the operation of the swimming
pool.
D. Conduct of persons in the pool area.
(1) All patrons shall abide by the rules listed in
the Pool Operations Manual; posted regulatory
signs; and instructions of management or the
lifeguard staff.
E. Use of pool shall be limited to the posted hours
and any person in violation thereof shall be
considered in violation of this ordinance.
3~ Reservations:
Reservations will be accepted for Wednesday evenings between
the hours of 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Reservations must be made a
minimum of (1) day prior to reservation date.
A. Minimum rental time is two hours.
B. Fees are based on the following:

These fees include guard supervision, operation of pool (such
as utilities, chemicals. etc.) maintenance and cleaning.
C. All pool regulations which apply to the general
public must be observed. In addition, children and
youth groups must be accompanied by at least two
adult chaperones.
D. Reservations will be made by adults only, in
person, at the Swimming Pool Office.
E. All reservation fees must be paid at time
reservation is made.
4. Swimming lessons; dates and fees:
A. Three, three week sessions: June 8-26; July 6-24;
August 3-21.

5. Special Aquatics Programs are, but not limited to,
Diving Lessons: Hydrorobics; Swimming for Seniors;
Lifeguard Training and the Junior Lifeguard Programs.
6. Special Aquatic Program fees are based on the following:
A. Daily entry fees plus instructor fee.
B. Set fee per program as recommended by
Superintendent Parks and Recreation with
concurrence of City Manager.
