SEAT ALTERNATE TO ACT IF REQUIRED Mr. Richmond seated Bert Crawford as voting member for Commissioner Jacobs. HEARING OF RESIDENTS No citizen comments. CONSENT AGENDA: A. Minutes for December 8, 2010 B. PC2010 -054 Merritt Lakeside Senior Village — Final Plat Consider and act upon a request for approval of a final plat of approximately 10.637+ acres of land more specifically described as a portion of the Genobera Malpaz Survey No. 67, Abstract No. 221, generally located 458+ feet east of the intersection of Borgfeld Road and FM 3009; also known as 1222 Borgfeld. The property is zoned Apartment /Multi - Family District (R -4). After the reading of Consent Agenda, Mr. Murray moved to approve the item. Mr. Greenwald seconded the motion. Vote unanimous. Motion carried. ITEMS FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSIDERATION: Minutes Planning and Zoning Commission January 12, 2011 Page 1 of 3 A. PC2010 -059 GVEC — Replat Hold a public hearing, consider and act upon a request of a subdivision replat of GVEC Subdivision, Unit 1, consisting of a 3.370+ acres of land out of the Genobera Malpaz Survey No. 67, Abstract No. 221, generally located at the east corner of Schertz Parkway and Curtiss Avenue; also known as 900 and 908 Curtiss Avenue. The property is zoned Neighborhood Services (NS). Public Hearing opened at 6:04 pm. Ms. Sanchez reviewed staff comments and advised the Commission that this property contains the original GVEC building and the new GVEC building. The purpose for the replat is to divide the original lot into two lots; which would create a separate lot for each building. The replat is consistent with all zoning requirements for the property and has been reviewed by all departments. Ms. Sanchez offered staff recommendation. Mr. Richmond recognized the following: • Ken Reininger, Project Engineer, presented the purpose of the replat and was available for questions. • Robert Brockman, 1000 Elbe], questioned why the improvements were not on the exhibit. • Ms. Sanchez clarified. The public hearing closed at 6:10 pm. After a short discussion on the underground thermal heating and the existing tower, Mr. Greenwald moved to approve the item. Mr. Glombik seconded the motion. Vote unanimous. Motion carried. 6. REQUESTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS A. Requests by Commissioners to place items on a future Planning and Zoning Agenda. Discussion related to the parking and occupancy at the gymnastic center located on Borgfeld Road. (K. Greenwald) The effects of FM 3009 expansion on the drainage in the area. (E. Evans) B. Announcements by Commissioners • City and community events attended and to be attended • Continuing education events attended and to be attended Mr. Richmond congratulated Justin Murray and Lesa Wood for their recent achievements. He also reminded everyone about the Planning Charrette and encouraged attendance. Mr. Evans suggested that the Fire information provided by staff be used as part of the next UDC amendment discussions. D. Announcements by City Staff. • Fire Chief Report on Schertz Fire. • Activity Report • City and community events attended and to be attended. • NEW SITE PLAN APPLICATIONS: The following site plan applications were submitted to the Planning and Zoning Division between December 3, 2010 and January 6, 2011: 1. Caterpillar — Site Plan Ms. Sanchez gave a brief update on the following: Minutes Planning and Zoning Commission January 12, 2011 Page 2 of 3 Report provided to Commission from the Fire Chief as requested. Staff provided an updated project activity report. Invited the Commission to attend the Planning Charrette with Gateway Planning on January 31, 2011 and February 2, 2011.
