THURSDAY, AUGUST 4, 20115:34 P.M.
The Transportation Safety Advisory Commission (TSAC) convened on August 4, 2011 at 5:30 p.m, in the
Council Chamber Conference Room, Building #4, 1400 Schertz Parkway, Schertz, Texas 78154.
Call to order at 5:30 p.m. by Steve Bish acting chairperson.
Members present:

INTRODUCTION: Mr. Gordan Rae, TSAC Alternate and Larry Busch Jr, Engineer in Training with
the city engineering department.
HEARING OF RESIDENTS: None
1. Minutes -Consideration and/or action regarding the approval of the minutes for August 4, 2011.
Motion to accept August 4, 2011 minutes by Michae! Goos and second by John Ostrowski. -All
Ayes- Motion passed
2. Schertz Pkwy & Live Oak Road: -Left turn lane {arrow light) change to green light, similar to
the way the light works at Schertz Pkwy and Elbel Road. Brought to TSAC by Commissioner
Ostrowski {PWs/Engineering}. Doug Ledbetter said that changing atEt the light system to a five
light system as what is at Schertz Pkwy and Elbel Rd cost would be $2,000 to $6,000 no traffic
backup at light that would war~'ant the change. Traffic turning left at the light would have to cross
on coming traffic at the speed of 35 miles. Future plans to extend Live Oak Road, which may
address this issue and could be considered and/or changed. Motion made by Michael Goos to
close this item until the construction of Live Oak Road and see if the issue is addressed at that time
second by Jahn Ostrowski to close item. All Ayes- Motion passed.
3. Carolina Crossing Unit 4 -- Egress Gate: HOA would like to know whether egress gate on
Schertz Parkway coming out of Carolina Crossing Unit 4 could be turned into apedestrian/bike
egress; and/or whether allowing ingress for pedeshians andlor bikers would be acceptable to the
City. {PWs/Engineering} Doug Ledbetter said it would be unsafe having bicycles exiting onto
Schertz Pkwy. Motion made by Joey Bishop to table until more information can be received by the
HOA as what they really want second by Michael Goos to table item. All Ayes- Motion passed

4. Corridor Laop Road -Address parking on bath side of the street; Dangerous situation when
existing parking lots along Corridor Lane. Brought to TSAC by Erin Matlock, EDC Specialist II
(PWslEngineering) Item pulled Thursday August 4, 2011 at 2:10 p, m. by management and staff.
5. Engineer Dept Reports Debbie Perrone reported this morning Thursday August 4, 2011 the city
accepted bids for Rural Roads Phase 1 -Ware Seguin @ FM 1518 a contractor should be chosen and
forward onto council for approval.
