RESOLUTION
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS
VEHEMENTLY URGING THE GUADALUPE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS TO ENSURE THAT THE CITY OF
SCHERTZ CONTINUES TO HAVE REPRESENTATION BY
TWO COMMISSIONERS IN GUADALUPE COUNTY.
WHEREAS, the citizens of Schertz, Texas have strongly indicated their
desire to be represented by two Guadalupe County Commissioners; and
WHEREAS, the residents of the City of Schertz feel the City has been grossly
overlooked as far as its growth and resulting economic contributions to
Guadalupe County; and
WHEREAS, the latest Illustrative Plan for Guadalupe County Commissioner
precincts shows the City of Schertz at the highest end of the population per
district; and
WHEREAS, City Council adamantly feels the City of Schertz should be,
initially going in, as low as possible regarding population per district; and
WHEREAS, the results of this proposed Redistricting Plan will have far-
reaching consequences on the future representation of the City of Schertz in
Guadalupe County.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT, the Guadalupe County Commissioners do everything in their power to
ensure that the City of Schertz, initially going in, be as low as possible regarding
population per district, and maintain representation for the City of Schertz by two
Commissioners.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this I~ day of July, 2001.
