Minutes -Consideration and/or action regarding the approval of the minutes of August 1, 2011. Ruth Tienor moved to accept the August minutes. Neota Brady seconded. August 1, 2011 minutes approved. 2. Treasurer's Report -Consideration and/or action approving the August, 2011 Treasurer's Report August bookstore sales were $2,502.90 Sandy Keiser moved to accept the August 2011 treasurer's report. Carol Cyr seconded. Motion canted. August 2011 Treasurer's report was approved. 3. Librarians' Report -Librarians will report on the following items: • August 2011 _ Library usage statistics Circulation: 37,268 Patrons: 22,590 New Cards: 543 Renewals: 542 ILLS: 157 Self check items: 14,724 Program Hours 519 Volunteer hours 502.75 E-Resource usage 442 Computer Usage 4,722 • August 2011 Library programs and program statistics: Lizzi has been doing movies on Saturday afternoon. There has been a good turnout. Weekends will be getting busy as there will be new programs starting for working parents. i SCHERTZ PUBLIC LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING September 12,2011 • August 2011 Library fundraising statistic: - Memorial contributions continue to come in. The Autumn Wind donations also are continuing to come in. Some "pig" money still coming in. The 3- yearcampaign will be over at the end of this year. • Upcoming Library Projects: - Currently in the process of creating a new and improved web page for the library. It will be easier for the librarians to make changes and to work with. It will have an interactive calendar as well. There will be a page for the book store. It is almost complete and will be presented at the City Council meeting tomorrow. Gail has been working with the City Manager and the other Department Heads on the 5-year critical issues, finances and along-term plan. A discussion was had regarding our vision and goals for the library in the short term, mid-term and long term. 4. Bookstore Committee Report -- Committee will report on the following items: • General operation of the bookstore during the month of August 2011 The bookstore last a Monday morning volunteer. Two additional volunteers were found to replace her. They are working out well. All volunteer positions are full right now. There was a discussion regarding changing the amount kept in the till. There has been an issue with having enough change. The discussion was changing the amount to $50.00 (fifty dollars). Everyone was in agreement with that amount. • Recap ofAugust 19-20, 2011 Book sale The August book sale was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who volunteered. • Update on consignment sales of books Juan Thorn will report back on this at the next Board meeting. Items by the Library Board Members - Bf•iefang and discussion on the following items: • Correspondence received by the Secretary --None. • Announcements by Library Board Members - All end of term renewal applications are due by the end of October. This affects Mary McAllister, Juan Thorn, Laura Wilson, Ruth Tienor, Margaret Riley, Pattie Lovelady and Shonale Burke • Call for Items to be included in next Agenda Consignnnent and online book sales Vintage books being alphabetized on the shelf Sculpture for library courtyard DISCUSSYON AND POSSIBLI'~ ACTION 6. Sculpture -Discussion and possible action on the purchase of a piece of sculpture for the Library courtyard. A discussion was had regarding the different possibilities for a sculpture for the library courtyard, Gail and Melissa will present different options at the next Board meeting.
