TRANSPORTATION SAFETY ADVISORY COMMISSION
MINUTES
THURSDAY, MAY 3, 2012 5:30 P.M.
The Transportation Safety Advisory Commission (TSAC) convened on May 3, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. in the
Council Chamber Conference Room, Building #4, 1400 Scheliz Parkway, Scheliz, Texas 78154.
Call to order at 5:30 p.m. by Stephen Bish chairperson.
Members present:

INTRODUCTION OF NEW TSAC ALTERNATES: Mark Davis and Gary Preston.
HEARING OF RESIDENTS: None present
1. Minutes ~ Consideration and/or action regarding the approval of the minutes for February 2,2012.
Motion to accept, February 2, 2012 minutes by: Gary Preston second by Max Hernandez - All
Ayes- Motion passed.
2. Covers Cove - Speed Hump request. Residents are requesting a speed hump be placed on Covers
Cove. Speed Hump application has been completed and submitted to the City. Application attached
in packet. Staff reported that the traffic study done does not wan-ant speed humps on Covers Cove.
Question asked by Commissioners is there anything that residences can do to over turn this. Staff
said that residents could appeal to City Council.
Motion to close by Bill Bowers, and second by Gordon Rae. All Ayes - Motion passed.
3. City Engineer Report (City Engineer/Public Works): Nothing
4. Items for Next Agenda: Consideration and or action on questions and possible items to be placed
on the next agenda (Commission Members):
€I Gordon Rae - would like more information on the traffic light on FM 78 and FM 3009. What
are the hours in which the dual turning lanes in affect and can the length of time in which to
dual turning lane be extended to help control traffic backup on FM 787 TXDot issue.
@ Max Hernandez - would like to discuss painting areas in front of fire hydrants. To prevent
parking in front of fire hydrants. State Law in place.

5. Staff Comments:
l1iI Debbie PelTone welcomed Mark Davis and Gary Preston Alternates and encouraged them to
attend all meetings when possible.
@l Mike Harris asked if anyone sights a violation to please call the police department at that
time and report it to the dispatcher a unit will be dispatched to investigate the violation. Do
not wait for days after the violation has occurred.
Adjournment: Motion to adjourn by William Rumfelt second by Max Hernandez - All Ayes - Motion
passed. Time: 5:55 P.M.
