$150 donation in memory of Hal Baldwin was received from a former Schertz

Every department had to reduce spending by 4 %. This amounted to
approximately $10,000 for the Library. The guidance was to not cut people.

• Shelves aren't as full as they have been in the past. Donations are down. A

to haul boxes of books the Thursday night before and again on Saturday
afternoon.
• Consignment of vintage books is moving along. The electronic spreadsheet of
vintage books contains some errors, possibly a cell of spreadsheet was
deleted. Juan Thorn will look into it.
DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION:
5. Hal Baldwin Memorial — We brainstormed ideas to represent Mr. Baldwin's public
service and love of people. Ideas included things for the library sculpture garden,
such as an arbor made of vinyl, a gazebo, a sculpture. Sculptures discussed
were a bench with Mark Twain, kids on a bench reading, a sail for shade over the
garden, a tree sculpture, a tree with kids on a ladder. It was decided we would
table the issue until next meeting when we'll appoint a committee to develop
ideas and propose a budget.
6. Library Float — We are unaware of a theme for the 41h of July parade. April and
Kalli will start brainstorming ideas for the float and provide more information next
meeting. Gail Douglas will inquire about borrowing a trailer. Sonia Samora
offered her trailer but was unsure of the dimensions. She will provide information
to Gail.
