AN ORDINANCE
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS,
CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS
OF THE CITY OFFICER ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON
THE 3RD DAY OF APRIL, 1982, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS, there came on to be considered the returns of a City
Council election duly and legally held in the City of Schertz, Texas, on
April 3, 1982; and
WHEREAS, this City Council has diligently inquired into the poll
lists and official election returns which were duly and lawfully made to
said City Council by the judge and clerks holding said election; and
WHEREAS, from said returns, this City Council hereby finds that
there were cast in said election by those voters who were resident qualified
electors of the City the following votes:

NOW THEREFORE,
received a plurality of votes cast;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS:

THAT EARL W. SAWYER
is hereby duly elected Mayor; CHARIFS B. SHARPF
is hereby duly elected Councilmember Place 1; and WILLIAM G..
COURTNEY is hereby duly elected Councilmember
Place 2 on the City Council of the City of Schertz, Texas, pursuant to the
election duly held within said City on April 3, 1982.

The public importance of this measure constitutes and creates
an urgent necessity requiring that this ordinance be passed and take effect
as an emergency measure, and shall take effect and be in force immediately
upon and after its passage.
