AN ORDINANCE
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS
PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF SCHERTZ, TEXAS BE AMENDED BY REVISING
ARTICLE II, OPERATION OF VEHICLES GENERALLY, BY
ADDING SECTION 18-48, DESIGNATED PARKING
REGULATIONS ON CITY-OWNED PROPERTY; PROVIDING
A PENALTY CLAUSE; PROVIDING A REPEALING CLAUSE;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
SECTION I
THAT, Section 18-48 of the Code of Ordinances, City of Schertz, Texas
be added as follows:
"Section 18-48, Designated Parking Regulations on City-Owned Property
THAT, the City Manager is hereby authorized to establish parking
regulations, including the establishment of No Parking or Restricted Parking
zones, relating to City-owned property. Such regulations with respect to specific
parcels of City property shall be reflected in appropriate signage, giving
reasonable notice to the public.
SECTION i!
THAT, violation of such parking regulations shall be punishable by a
fine not to exceed the legal maximum for each day of violation. In addition, the
City shall be authorized to remove any vehicle parked in violation of such
regulation and may impound such vehicle pending payment of all appropriate
fines and costs."
SECTION III
THAT, all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this
ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION IV
THAT, the public importance of this measure and the necessity for
establishing these regulations creates an emergency and an urgent public
necessity requiring the suspension of the Charter provision that no ordinance be
passed on the day it is introduced, and such Charter provision is accordingly
suspended and this Ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure, and
shall take effect and be In full force immediately from and after its passage on the
date shown below.
