MINUTES OF MEETING
Thursday, February 9, 2017 —11:30 a.m.
1. Call to Order and Establish a Quorum — A quorum was present.
Mayor Seiler called the meeting to order. Councilmember Cimics provided the proxy
for Mayor Dennis, Alderwoman Claire Walters provided the proxy for Mayor
Milanovich.
2. Welcome and Introductions
Mayor Seiler welcomed everyone in attendance and those present stood and
introduced themselves.
3. Approval of minutes of January 5, 2017 NEP Mayor's Workshop and the minutes
of the January 12, 2017 Regular meeting.
Councilmember Cimics moved seconded by Mayor Hunt to approve the minutes of the
January 5, 2017 NEP Mayor's Workshop and the January 12, 2017 NEP regular
meeting minutes. The vote was unanimous. Motion Passed.
4. Approval of the Treasurer's Report for January 2017.
Mayor Hunt made a motion seconded by Councilmember Cimics to approve the
treasurer's report for January 2017. The vote was unanimous. Motion Passed.
5. Update regarding the 85th Texas Legislation session.
No update was provided. Mayor Seiler stated that we will have our representative send
out an update.
6. Information Items.
A. Report from Tri County Chamber of Commerce.
B. Report from The Chamber.
C. Report from Randolph Air Power Community Council (RAPCO).
D. Report on Bicycle Mobility Advisory Committee.
E. Report from Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).
Item A: Ms. Reynolds announced she was the new Chair of the Tri County Chamber of
Commerce. This year they have a theme, which is `Climbing to New Heights'. Their
luncheons are the second Tuesday of every month (11:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m.) at the Club at
Garden Ridge.

Item B: Maggie Titterington from The Chamber provided information on some
upcoming events mentioning their website which has more detailed data.
• Last week the Health and Wholeness Fair, over 800 attendees.
• February 21, 2017 — Chamber Luncheon, 11:30 A.M., Schertz Civic Center. The
State of the Cities will be presented from Schertz, Selma and Cibolo
• March 2, 2017 —The Taste — Ratama Park, Selma 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Item C: No report was provided.
Item D: William Shelby stated the Bicycle Advisory Committee and the Pedestrian
Advisory Committee met last night at a public meeting to discuss several items including
working with CAMPO on how to establish region connectivity through bicycle and
pedestrian modes. The second thing they looked at was some alternative transportation
projects they submitted. The next time they will be looking at funding will be April 27.
Item E: Representative Geiger reported at their last meeting he voted `no' to toll roads.
There were other road packages that he did vote for but not the toll ones. He just couldn't
vote for a new tax. He asked the Mayors to let him know what they think about it.
7. Establish a Date and Time of the next NEP Mayor's Workshop — April 6, 2017 —
City of Converse to host. (The March meeting has been cancelled due to The
Chamber Taste Event)
City Secretary Brenda Dennis stated that she will reach out to Mayor Suarez and let
everyone know.
8. Establish a Date and Time of Next Northeast Partnership for Economic
Development Meeting — March 9, 2017.
February Door Prizes — City of Converse
March Door Prizes — City of Garden Ridge
The City Converse provided the door prizes for this meeting. For February, the City of
Garden Ridge will provide door prizes for February.
9. Items of Interest by Members.
Mayor Seiler recognized Mayor Williams who challenged everyone to join what is called
It's time Texas! — a fitness program (www.itstimetexas.ora). The City of Universal City
has signed up already and he challenged the other cities in the metro -corn area to sign up
as well. He showed a short video about it.
Mayor Seiler recognized Councilmember Hadas who stated the City of Selma will again
be hosting the 5kRun for Operation Comfort in a couple of weeks at the Bluebonnet
Palace on February 25.

Councilmember Polasek stated at the last meeting you all quickly voted in money to
honor the ATC for their 75th anniversary. The base put on an excellent show and he
appreciates all the support from NEP and the surrounding cities.
Barbara Bowie thanked everybody for supporting the MLK celebration and the Freedom
Riders event. It was very successful and they intend to do it again next year.
10. Adjournment.
As there was no further business, Mayor Seiler adjourned the meeting at 12:25 p.m.
