1. Minutes: Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of the minutes for
June 2, 2014.
Ruth Tienor moved to accept the May minutes. Sandy Keiser seconded the motion. Motion
carried. June 2, 2014 minutes were approved.
. Treasurer's Report: Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of the
Treasurer's Report.
The Treasurer's report for May 2014 was: Bookstore sales were 1412.82, consignments were
492.13, Interest earned 1.46, Donation (pig) 5.00, and Recycle was 7.18 Total 1918.59. The
June 2014 Treasurer's report was: Bookstore sales were 1451.94, Consignments were 245.71,
Interest earned 1.29, and Donation (pig) 19.35 Total was 1718.29. Joann Ward moved to
accept the Treasurer's Reports as presented. Carol Cyr seconded the motion. Motion carried.
May and June Treasurer's reports was approved.
There was a discussion that all the Pig Donations will need to go to the Library Foundation and
not the Library Advisory Board.
3. Librarian's Report: Librarian will report on the following items:
The May Statistics: Total Library circulation 31,634, Head Count 19,087, Library Program
Attendance 1536, Total Collection Titles 82,520, Total Items 93, 319, Patrons 28,779, New
Library Cards issued 331, Library Cards Renewed 500, Self- checkout 12,131, Electronic
Resources 91,269, Volunteer hours 455.75, ILL (Inter Library Loans) 19, Meeting room usage 67,
Computer Usage 3,265, E- Resources 1,024, TSLAC Service Population 86,162, Web page hits
3,969.
The June Statistics: Total Library circulation 39,451, Head Count 23,593, Library Program
Attendance 1,131, Total Collection Titles 83,450, Total Items 95,646, Patrons 29,383, New
Library Cards issued 616, Library Cards Renewed 759, Self - checkout 16,514, Electronic
Resources 91,269, Volunteer hours 771.50, ILL (Inter Library Loans) 36, Meeting room usage 65,

General Operation for May:
- The Library is currently training three new employees.
- Currently posting new positions for the Library. A new Librarian position is available as
well.
-The Summer Reading program, All about Science, was very busy. The stats were not
completed yet. The final Summer Luau was on Friday, August 1, 2014. The luau had 60 -80
attending.
- The Herald had a great write up on the great summer programs at the Library.
- Community Meetings are scheduled to go over the City budget. All citizens are invited.
The First one is on August 6th at The Civic Center at 7:00. The second one is on August 14th
at the Schertz United Methodist Church at 7:00.
4. Bookstore Report: Committee reported on the following items:
General Operation:
-The Bookstore is replenishing the paperback books, especially romances and mysteries.
- There is a volunteer that wishes to work in the Bookstore. She will do training to insure she
is ready.
- The Book Sale was a great success. Well done! Joann Ward did a great job advertising the
sale and managing the sale.
-Mary McAllister and Bobbie Boyce purchased and donated toner for the Bookstore printer.
- The next Book Sale is scheduled for October 17th- October 18th with setup on October 16th
Setup will begin at 4:00 pm on the 16th. Joann Ward will oversee the advertising.
S. Projects Honoring Hal Baldwin and Gail Douglas- Discussion and possible action on
choosing an appropriate project in memory of Hal Baldwin and in honor and
appreciation of Gail Douglas' service to the Library.
After lots of Discussion:
Hal Baldwin: Mary McAllister made the motion to donate $150.00 to the Hal Baldwin
Scholarship fund. Ruth Tienor seconded the motion. The motion carried. A $150.00
donation will be made to the Hal Baldwin Scholarship Fund.
Gail Douglas: Margaret Riley made a motion to purchase two sculptures, one a girl reading
and the other is a boy writing, totaling $1600.00. Laura Wilson seconded the motion. The
motion carried. The two sculptures will be purchased honoring Gail Douglas. Mary
McAllister will oversee the purchase and installation.
