ORDER: CALL TO Bobbie Boyce called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m.

1. Minutes: Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of the minutes
of the September 14, 2015 and the October 5, 2015 meetings.
Sandy Keiser moved to acceptthe September 2015 minutes as presented. Laura
Wilson seconded the motion. Motion carried. The September 14, 2015 minutes
were approved
Bobbie Boyce moved to accept the October 5, 2015 minutes as presented. Patti
Paulson seconded the motion. Motion carried. The October 5, 2015 minutes were
approved.
2. Treasurer's Reports: Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of
the August 2015 and the September 2015 Treasurer's Reports.
Amended August 2015 Treasurer's Report: Bookstore sales were 1,450.11, Interest
earned 1.25, Library Consignments were 379.14, total is 1,830.50. Ruth Tienor
moved to accept the Amended August 2015 Treasurer's Report as presented. Patti
Paulson seconded the motion. The motion carried. The Amended August 2015
Treasurer's report was approved.
The September 2015 Treasurer's Report: Bookstore sales were 1,263.91, Interest
earned 1.25, Library Consignments were 244.62, total is 1,509.78. Ruth Tienor
moved to accept the September 2015 Treasurer's Report as presented. Sandy
Keiser seconded the motion. The motion carried. The September 2015 Treasurer's
report was approved.
3. Librarian"s Report: Librarian will report on the following items:
-Year Overview: Most stats have stayed the same, head count has increased by 2%,
volunteer hours have increased by 3%, items increased by 12%, and E-readers 31%
increase.
-Brainfuse began in October. We have not received any data on usage; it is still too
early.
-Rocket Language is up and running as well. It to is still too early to get stats.
-Guadalupe County and Cibolo have agreed to help fund the Library. They are still
waiting on Selma to report back.
-Pumpkin decorating contest was a success. Staff- ls' place was Snoopy and 2nd
place was Queen of Hearts. Public: Library Mouse won. Ruth Tienor suggested that
the Library inform the City Council of their programs and the creativity of the staff
and the patrons.
-The Library survey was launched on the website.
-Melissa Uhlhorn has meet with the facility maintenance. They discussed frequency
and types of jobs that need to be done around the library. That facility maintenance
department is fully staffed, The final meeting is on Wednesday.

4. Bookstore Report: Committee reported on the following items:

General Operation:
- Donations are coming in.
- Bookmarkers will be sold for $5.00. They are needlepoint bookmarkers; made by
Pricilla Delventhal. Lizzi Bertoia made the sign in the Bookstore. Thank you ladies.
- Christmas books will be put out on the shelves Thanksgiving weekend.
-Book Sale was a huge success even with the bad weather. Thank you to all that
volunteered and to Lizzie Bertoia for making the new laminated signs.
-New Bookshelf has been installed.
- Vintage books- " The Story of Civilization" 1 -10 are missing. They are on the
Vintage list, but are nowhere to be found. A gentleman wishes to purchase them if
found. To eliminate this problem in the future Vintage books should be clearly
marked. The volunteers need to be trained in the separate pricing for Vintage
books.
-It was discussed to have a possible meeting with volunteers for the bookstore to
discuss vintage books and other shelving details.
-Next book sale it was suggested that we increase the fee for the bags. We will need
to discuss at the next meeting in January.
Discussion on holiday hours:
- The bookstore will be closed for Thanksgiving: Wednesday, November 25th to
Saturday, November 28th. The bookstore will reopen on the Monday, November
30th. Ruth Tienor made the motion to accept the Thanksgiving bookstore closing.
Laura Wilson seconded the motion. The motion carried. The bookstore will close
from November 25- November 28.
- Christmas hours- the bookstore will close from December 21St to January 2nd to
reopen on January 4th. The hours will be clearly posted.
S. Update on Mayor's Committee: Howson Lau
No meeting- Nothing to report.
6. Winter and Summer Reading C - Discussion and possible action on
funding for upcoming reading clubs
Lizzi Bertoia presented both the adult and children programs. It will be called the
"Seasons to Read." The Winter Reading Club will be different from the summer. It is
harder to gauge how many will participate. Challenge weeks are 3 out of 5 weeks.
The participants will enter to win a raffle drawing. There will also be weekly prizes
like: guess how many marshmallows are in the jar. Lizzie requested 325.00 for
both the adult and children programs. Sandy Keiser made the motion to fund the
Winter Reading Club. Neota Brady seconded the motion. The motion carried. The
Library will receive 325.00 for the Winter Reading Clubs.
Lizzi Bertoia presented both the adult and children program. The Summer Reading
Club is conjunction with CSLP. It will be a program that
exercises participants mind and body. It is called "Exercise Your Mind - Read ". This
is Phase 1; they will be using the money to order promotional items and book guest
speakers. They will present Phase lI in March. The Children's program will have
more guest speakers and the Adult's program will increase the number of
participants to 450. They would like to request for Phase I:

Ruth Tienor moved to give 2450.00 for Phase I for the Summer Reading Club. Patti
Paulson seconded the motion. The motion carried. The Library will receive 2450.00
for the Phase I of the Summer Reading Club.
7. Survey Results- Presentation of library's customer feedback survey results
Natalie Shults presented the survey results. 255 people participated in the survey.
The survey lasted 2 weeks and the cities of Schertz, Cibolo and Selma participated.
The results were discussed and the areas that needed attention were also
addressed. The survey will be repeated yearly. Melissa Uhlhorn has addressed
some of the areas on the Library website and others will be addressed in the Schertz
Tales.
A suggestion box was placed in the hall. It is checked daily and will have an
immediate response given; if the contact information is given they will be contacted
directly.

8. Items by the Library Board Members: Briefing and discussion on the
following items:
- Correspondence received by the Secretary: None received
-Other announcements by Library Board Members: Mary McAllister said her
goodbyes. She will be here until the end of the year. Melissa Uhlhorn presented
Mary McAllister with a non - expiring Library Card. We will not have a December
meeting; instead we will have a Christmas party. Bring finger food.
-Call for items to be included on the next agenda: Increase the book bag prices for
the next book sale.
Margaret Riley moved to adjourn the meeting. Ruth Tienor seconded the motion.
The motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 8:03 p.m. The next meeting is
January 4, 2016.
