02-18 LAB MinutesLIBRARY SCHERTZ PUBLIC ADVISORY BOARD MEETING February Members Present: Patti Dilworth, Cindy Vigil, Ruth Tienor, Laura Wilson, Patti Paulson, Margaret Riley, Neota Brady, Sandy Keiser, Joanne Ward, Dawn Figueras, Bobbie Boyce, Carol Cyr, Juan Thorn, Shonale Burke, and Melissa Uhlhorn, Library Director. FARING OF RESIDENTS: None CALL TOO DER: Patti Dilworth called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m. 1. Minutes: Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of the minutes of the January 8, 2018 meeting. Patti Paulson moved to accept the January 8, 2018 minutes with no corrections. Carol Cyr seconded the motion. Motion carried. The January 8, 2018 minutes were approved with no corrections. . Treasurer's Reports: Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of the December 2017 Treasurer's Reports. The December 2017 Treasurer's Report reflected income of $1,332.65 and expenses of $171.00 leaving a balance of $25,606.26 in the cash account. The Investment account has a $45,763.01 balance. Sandy Keiser moved to accept the December 2017 Treasurer's Reports as presented. Patti Paulson seconded the motion. The motion carried. The December 2017 Treasurer's Reports were approved. 3. Part -time circulation clerk moved to new position and now looking for replacement circulation clerk. - 40th Anniversary of the Library - Ruth Tienor was mentioned in Schertz Tales Magazine. She shared stories from the initial library and how it was managed by volunteers. The Historical Society is taking oral histories and Melissa Uhlhorn suggested Ruth provide the library's history. There will have a birthday display in the summer. 4. Bookstore Report: Committee reported on the following items: General Operations: - Book sale is scheduled for February 23 -24th. Because there was no fall sale, this sale will have lots of books. - Allowing use of Credit card in the Read Before Book Store is not cost - effective. Manager is working with Librarian to develop work around. 5. Committees of Committees Advisory :o. Update: Shonale Bur1e Topics discussed included the following: - Shonale Burke did not attend the January CCAB so notes weren't available. - Brian James is the acting City Manager and his workload has increased. 6. Credit c i : Melissa Uhlhorn Library takes credit cards for $5 minimum. The Library cash register can add a code, like they do for Historical Society book sales, which will account for Book Store sales. Joanne Ward and Melissa Uhlhorn will have to work out a procedure for the library to provide a receipt that can then be given to Book Store to record the sale and move the merchandise.
