CALL TO ORDER: Patti Dilworth called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
REGULAR AGENDA:
1. Minutes: Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of the minutes
of the February 5, 2018 meeting.
Carol Cyr moved to accept the February 5, 2018 minutes after corrections. Neota
Brady seconded the motion. Motion carried. The February 5, 2018 minutes were
accepted after corrections.
2. Treasurer's Reports: Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of
January 2018 Treasurer's Report.
*The January 2018 Treasurer's Report: Bookstore sales were $1,483.94, Interest
earned for December $21.68, Interest for January $28.74, Misc. funds $5.95 the total
is $1,528.41. The Distribution total is $205.11.
The Cash Account has $25,606.26 and the Investment Account has $45,823.39 in
the accounts.
Laura Wilson had a question for Melissa Uhlhorn about the Misc. Fund for $5.95.
Melissa explained it was a credit from paying our taxes early.
Melissa Uhlhorn is checking into the remitted and payable categories under
distribution. She believes the payable category is a subset of the remitted category
and will follow up.
Sandy Keiser moved to accept the January 2018 Treasurer's Report as presented.
Patti Paulson seconded the motion. The motion carried. The January 2018
Treasurer's report was accepted as presented.
3. Librarian's Report: Librarian will report on the following items:
General Operation:
- Library will be closed on Friday, March 9,2018 for staff training.
-TLA, Texas Library Association will be held in Dallas on April 3-6,2018. April
Toman will attend the meeting. April Toman was chosen to be on the Maverick
Committee. She will be on the committee for 3 years. Congratulations April!
- Katrina Garza is going on maternity leave this summer.
-Pam Kurczewski has been hired to fill the open position.
- Community Volunteer Fair will be April 19th from 6:30 -8:30.
-The Library Foundation has open positions needing to be filled. If you know
anyone who would like to be on the Foundation please let them know.
-Mini Golf holes for Foundation fundraiser are still available. If you know of a
business that would like to sponsor a hole please let Lizzi know.
-Book Nerd - a year round reading program is underway. If you would like to
register you can do so on the Library website under Beanstack. Those who
complete the program will get a hoodie for their efforts.
-Parks are working on the landscape and planting trees.
-New City Facilities Manager has been hired. He has hit the ground running. He is
hired to maintain city facilities.
- Correction to the December stats: Volunteer hours 281.50 with 40 volunteers.
-The Library is now processing the bookstore credit cards. It has been a huge
success. They processed $128.00 for February and $106.00 so far for the month of
March.

4. Bookstore Report: Committee reported on the following items;
General Operation:
-Book Sale was a huge success. It was a $2000.00 weekend combining the book sale
and bookstore sales. We need to be diligent to make sure that a bag is purchased
and people cannot fill their bags without paying.
- Bookstore will be opened on Good Friday.
-No Puzzles- all sold out
-A volunteer is in the hospital. Joanne Ward will check on her.
- Overall everything is going well.
S. CCAB (Committee of Committees Advisory Board) Update: Shonale
Burke /Brian James
Shonale Burke was not able to attend the Library Advisory Board meeting to give
the report. The minutes of the CCAB were handed out for the board to review and
discuss.
The Historic Committee has published the Bibliotech under Biblioboard. It is the
history of Schertz. It is worth looking at.

Ruth Tienor moved to adjourn the meeting. Patti Paulson seconded the motion. The
motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 p.m. The next meeting is April
2, 2018.
