April 2, 2018

HEARING OF RESIDENTS: None
CALL TO ORDER: Patti Dilworth called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
REGULAR AGENDA:
1. Minutes: Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of the minutes
of the March 5, 2018 meeting.
Ruth Tienor moved to accept the March 5, 2018 minutes after corrections. Patti
Paulson seconded the motion. Motion carried. The March 5, 2018 minutes were
accepted after corrections.
2. Treasurer's Reports: Consideration and /or action regarding the approval of
February 2018 Treasurer's Report.
February 2018 Treasurer's Report: Bookstore sales were $3,388.46, Interest earned
$27.42, Misc. funds .52, Library Consignments were $14.37, Credit Card sales
$117.90, the total is $3,548.67. The Distribution was $1,581.62.
The Cash Account has $26,929.56 and the Investment Account has $45,823.39 in
the accounts.
Patti Paulson moved to accept the February 2018 Treasurer's Report as presented.
Sandy Keiser seconded the motion. The motion carried. The February 2018
Treasurer's report was accepted as presented.
3. Librarian's Report: Librarian will report on the following items:
General Operation: - Melissa Uhlhorn discussed the library cards will be active
longer. So, the number of cards being renewed will decrease.
- Lizzie Bertoia handed out gifts to the LAB members. Thank you for the bags and
shirts.
-Staff had training during for the month of March. They worked on personality
traits and customer service.
-Staff evaluations were completed.
-The staff is busy working on summer reading programs. They are planning an
Escape Room, Mini Golf, plus many more activities.
- Melissa Uhlhorn is working on the budget.
-City Volunteer Night is to be held at the Civic Center on April 19th.

4. Bookstore Report: Committee reported on the following items:
General Operation:
- Volunteers: one of the volunteers is sick and one is having surgery. Joanne Ward is
working on finding coverage.
- Next book sale will be in July. Discussed possibly pushing back the date to August
to minimize any date conflicts. Joanne Ward will speak with April Toman to discuss
availability of the room.
S. CCAB (Committee of Committees Advisory Board) Update: Shonale
Burke /Brian James
Brian James presented the CCAB meeting report. He highlighted a few areas of
interest: Code Compliance has new software and "What's developing in Schertz" on
the city website will allow citizens to know what is going on around town.
DISCUSSION & POSSIBLE ACTION:
b. Library Appreciation Week- Discussion and possible action on providing
lunch for library employees during Library Appreciation week in April.
Patti Dilworth passed around a sign up sheet to provide soups and desserts to the
library staff from April 17th to April 19th.

7. Items by the Library Board Members: Briefing and discussion on the
following items:
- Correspondence received by the Secretary: None received
-Other announcements by Library Board Members: None
-Call for items to be included on the next agenda: Book Sale and nametags.

Ruth Tienor moved to adjourn the meeting. Laura Wilson seconded the motion.
The motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 7:05 p.m. The next meeting is
May 7, 2018.
