Bid # 08- PW -41 -03 - Doerr Lane Improvements
In the 2005 Bond Program, Doerr Lane is listed as one of the street improvement projects. This
project was bid on November 6, 2008 with twelve contractors submitting. A tabulation of the
bids is attached. The apparent low bidder is Dean Word Company, LTD. with a bid of
$1,851,258.29.
As bid, the project consists of construction of drainage system improvements, water and sewer
relocations and improvements, and the reconstruction and widening of approximately 9,600
lineal feet of roadway.
FISCAL IMPACT
Budgeted in 2005 Bond — Streets: $2,583,943.23
Current Estimated total cost, including engineering, construction and incidentals: $2.180.452.29
Excess: $ 403,490.94
RECOMMENDATION
The City Engineer concurs with Professional Engineering Design Group's recommendation that
Council award the bid for the Doerr Lane Project to Dean Word Company, LTD. in the amount
of $1,851,258.29.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ:
That the above stated staff recommendations are hereby approved and authorized.
PASSED AND APPROVED at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Schertz,
Texas this 25th day of November, 2008, at which meeting a quorum was present, held in
accordance with the provisions of V.T.C.A., Government Code, §551.001 et seq.
