CITY COUNCIL MEMORANDUM /RESOLUTION
City Council Meeting: March 11, 2008
Department:
Subject:
BACKGROUND
Public Works
Northcliffe Water Plant Upgrades
(NE Quadrant)
The existing 220 Thousand gallon ground storage tank and booster pumps are insufficient to
meet the demands of the new development in this area. The current condition of the tank and
booster pumps requires total reconstruction.
FISCAL IMPACT
Budgeted Water Capital Recovery account number: 909 - 551900 $2,100,000.
RECOMMENDATION
Public Works concurs with Ford Engineering to recommend Council award a bid to the
Holloman Corporation with a base bid of $1,548,000 and an alternate bid of $42,000 to include
the pilaster treatment (4 foot raised concrete panels) with a total amount of $1,590,000.
Considering height of the tank at 42', its highly visible location at Country Club Blvd. and
Morning Dr. and its projected 80 year lifespan, the Public Works Department recommends the
pilaster treatment that will provide an aesthetic look and not deter from the real estate in the area.
The Holloman Corporation is a well- recognized utility contractor in the area who has completed
other projects in the City of Schertz.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SCHERTZ:
That the above stated staff recommendations are hereby approved and authorized.
