MINUTES OF WORKSHOP
SEPTEMBER 5, 2019
I. Call to Order and Establish a Quorum.
Mayor Williams called the workshop to order at 6:35 p.m.
II. Introduction of those present.
Members present were:
Mayor Walt Williams, New Berlin

Mayor Al Suarez, Converse
Mayor Larry Thompson, Garden Ridge
Councilmember Ralph Gutierrez, Schertz
Councilmember Allison Heyward
Guests: Senator Jose Menendez, District 26
Emily Galdeano, Legislative Director State Senator Jose Menendez, District 26
Nicholette Orozco, The Reese Events Group
Fire Chief Luis Valdez, Converse
Brenda Dennis, Schertz City Secretary
Holly Nagy, Converse City Secretary
III. Legislative update and briefing from Senator Menendez.
Senator Menendez provided update information regarding the past session. He addressed
questions from the group on how the Senate and House are made up.
IV. OLD BUSINESS:
1. Continued discussion and possible action regarding the upcoming "Party with
the Partnership" event scheduled for October TML 2019. (Representatives from
the Reese Events Group will be in attendance) — Greg Reese — Nicholette Orozco
Members present reviewed:

• Review of Budget
• The website for.the RSVP — send the website to TML Representative
• List of Sponsors as of 8 -29 -2019 — need for their logos
• Discussion regarding banners and space outline at the Bluebonnet Palace
• Review and discussed the possible number of attendees, 200 to 500,
discussed was also during our event other large companies are having
events at the same time.
• Discussed the catering — Reese Events to work with Leonard John on this.
• Discussion regarding the banners, Members and Reese Events to work
with Mad Woman Marketing on these to provide the sponsor's logos.
• Review of what NEP needs from the Reese Company
2. Discussion regarding revising the NEP By -laws.
Mayor Williams reminded those present to look at the by -laws and provide any
corrections they see are necessary to him so that these can be updated. Mayor Williams
provided copies of the by -laws where he had made changes and asked those to look
them over and provide their changes at the next NEP Workshop.
V. NEW BUSINESS:
3. Discussion regarding the cancellation of the October 3, 2019 NEP Workshop and
cancellation of the October 10, 2019 NEP Regular meetings.
Mayor's present agreed to cancel these meetings and bring this item forward for
approval at the next meeting.
VI. Items of interest by Member cities.
• Mayor Williams discussed with the group that he would like to reconsider support
for the upcoming Balloon Fest and stated that this is the purpose of NEP to drive
economic development to our area. He asked that an item be placed on the next
agenda to do so.
• Brenda Dennis discussed with the group a way that she can post the agendas to the
NEP Website instead of sending out the several emails. It was discussed to have
the web host company see how this can be done.
• Mayor Williams suggested that the sponsors for the "Parry with the Partnership"
possibly receive their dues free for one -year.
• Mayor Hunt stated that he has ordered a credit card reader for NEP so that we can
take credit cards for monthly luncheon payments.

VII. Establish a Date, Time, & Location of the Next Meeting. (Next up is the City of
Garden Ridge) to host for November 7, 2019.
VIII. Review and discussion regarding the Agenda for September 12, 2019 regular meeting.
Discussion of the upcoming agenda.
IX. Adjournment.
